Hi everyone. Went to a tractor pull contest yesterday at a farmers museum not far from me. They hold it monthly from April to Oct and I try not to miss one. Older tractors. Not sure of the age cut off date to compete, but many are from the 30's-50's. I see many Olivers, JD, Ford, Allis Chalmers, Farmall, etc. The Olivers seem like a real good pulling tractor and the Ford diesels also do well. The JD's don't do the greatest, but I like to hear they run and compete. They all have to be weighed for classification purposes and I think they also go by tire size?? . They do something like a test and tune in the morning and then after lunch, start the real competition. I usually spend 5 hours there and find it very relaxing. I really like this stuff. Just wondering if there are any tractor pull contest in your area?? Thanks, Nicholas C.
 
Monthly? Perhaps next month you could give us some photos of the tractors doing their thing.

I wasn't raised on a farm, never did any farming, but this describes me perfectly! The old tractor bug got me years ago, and it stuck.
 
Around here we have weekly pulls at different locations. Sometimes we even have been to 3 pulls in one weekend. During the winter we travel with the NATPA. That is a national organization that sponsors pulls all over the US. We meet a lot of great people doing it and it is great fun-expensive anymore- but great fun.

I'm in upstate NY. About 65 miles northwest of NYC. Getting to be a bedroom community for NYC, but still many farms left in the area. I've always loved farm tractors. Grew up in a rural area. Never knew about tractor pulls until maybe 2-3 years ago. Not sure why I didn't know about them earlier. I wish they were more then once a month, but they aren't. Thinking about joining the farmers museum, that sponsors these pulls, as a volunteer. Regardless, I will give them a donation. They certainly bring much joy to my life one Sunday a month.
