A lot of these types of cribs were used in the days of corn on the cob harvesting. They were not aways fun to shell out of unless the corn was dry especially helped if the corn was in good shape going in. The corn dropped into the center and and slid to the outside and had to be raked to a drag feed in the center.

I help with many in my day ... Always like it when you got down to the last ...
RATS and MICE would come out ... didn't know to scope corn or Kill rats ..
To this day I hate RATS ...

old wooden cribs terrible for mice and rats I once helped corn out of one that smelled so bad of pee I almost tossed my lunch.
those round wire were good to shell out of if corn was put dry very little fodder and had some kid of tunnel to put corn sheller drag line in.
we had wire, wood, even tile cribs around here. tile cribs were usually egg shape with driveway in middle cribs on both sides. overhead bins and elevator inside of crib. you would drive in raise false floor over a drag line.
down spouts at top of elevator to direct corn, beans, oats where ever you wanted stuff to go.
