It's always a good feeling to get it planted and all of the fertlizer applied to it. We just started planting soybeans here in NC this week.

Nice!

Our renter was able to sneak his in last Saturday. With the rain we got, and the 90+ temps this week... that stuff should pop up real soon.

Back in the 1970's I lived in southern Minnesota and pretended like I was farmer (I wasn't). A great friend of mine named George Seehusen farmed 1,000 acres and mentored me in my feeble attempts. George used to say that he could hear the corn growing on hot humid nights. I'm not sure if he was speaking metaphorically or literally but if anyone could hear corn growing, I figured it would be George.

Sit outside at night, listen for stretching sounds of vegetable leaves. after rain & hot temptures.

What is the number of your planter? Is It a double disk type? I don't see any markers. It looks like there are some chemical trails in the sky. Sometimes here, they paint the whole sky white! Where are you located?

That's some fancy row guidance right there!
Engineering at it's best!
How long season corn did you plant?
Father in law has some 106,109,112 day corn planted.

Did you get your combine project pulled off, all good?

I grew up with Allis Chalmers notill planters and that is what they had for markers. You just drag the chain in the last planted row. I do not like markers as they are slow and a good bit of messing around. You will get straighter rows with markers but you get more corn in a crooked row.LOL I plant 95-100 day corn. I like it to dry down in the field and still have time to bale bedding for the cows. The combine project is coming along very slow. It is taking up most of the shop and is surrounded by parts. My 2 sons have a bet it won't be done for fall. I am starting to wonder as well. Right now there are 4 3020 customer tractors here that need some work that must be done before I can go back to the combine. Tom

Mine got planted yesterday and about an hour or less afterward it rained a few drops then later rained a serious shower. Did that all night till about midnight. Got part of the urea on my wheat also. Hope I can finish that tomorrow too. Supposed to rain good portion of this week. I hope to get my beans in in the next week. We just dried out this week. Hope we can get my brothers corn planted this week end if it doesn't rain to much.

Good luck there with the busy times,
Yes we're the same, fenders yet for Bailey's 1800, and slowly putting parts back to the 880.
And nothing really is economical today, gushes, seat parts, etc. Just like your combine project, it all adds up, but we will know what we are sitting on, lol.!
