Ended up with a Massey 1372 MoCo

Just letting everyone who answered my questions know I ended up trading the JD 3430 Swather for a 2011 Massey Ferguson 1372 Disc Mower with Steel
Rolls. I think the steel rolls will help with my early season brome drying. I bought the one with the 2 point hook up. I wanted a drawbar hook
up, and there was a twin sister that had one at a different dealership, but the drawbar machine was 4 years older and $2000.00 higher. I could
see no difference in the appearance of either machine. Both had been through the Dealer's shops, and had new knives, oils, greased, and ready to
go to the field.
I asked the dealer to price me a draw bar hitch to go with the machine, but at $5000.00 I decided to just use the 2 point..lol. I hope I don't
regret getting rid of a self propelled machine. Thanks for all the help and advice - Bob

I cut hay for years with a 800 JD. 12 ft. self propelled with conditioner. Always thought that worked pretty good. Then about 3 yrs. ago I needed to cut hay and the 800 was down. I hooked up my 5 and half ft. vicon disc mower. I believe the hay actually dries down faster and more uniform. I can travel so much faster with the disc mower that I can get as much or more done. I vowed never to cut hay with swather again. For this year I bought a new 7 and half foot Kubota disc mower. I should have the best of all worlds now.

You will love that mower , we are seeing folks go from JD mowers to the KUBOTA disk mowers and that is unusual , most times JD folks are hard to change.

Sounds good, Bob. You might at times miss the maneuverability of the SP but you'll definitely never want to go back to a sickle machine after running a rotary. That advantage alone will more than offset the slightly slower turn-arounds with the pull-type.
