John Deere 2640 Hydraulic Flow

I've got a 2640 and I am curious as to the order in which the hydraulic fluid flows though the system. I've been under the impression that line 38 at the bottom was the return line. I don't see how that would even be possible considering the valve being in that line. If someone could reply with the exact order of where the oil leaves gets into the main pump, oil cooler, reservoir and back to the housing would be much appreciated.

I think in this case ..return.. means ..a supply of fluid returning to the pump inlet to be pumped into the pressure side of the system.. Not fluid returning to the reservoir. Here is a link to the parts page the diagram came from.

Below is the hydraulic schematic for a 2030 from the JD technical manual. Yours should be similar, but for the flow of your 2640, you should get the correct JD technical manual. You need your tractor serial number to get the correct one. TM1142 for serial number 340999 and prior. TM1219 for serial number 341000 and after.

Well, now I feel silly! I looked at my manual and sure enough, there's a diagram plain as day! Attached for others to review!

Thanks!
