What kind of nut is this.

This nut was laying on a corner ledge below the cab on our 4890 case tractor. The thread inside is a metric 6mm X 1 thread. Who knows if it even came from the tractor. Does any one have any idea what it would be for? It is brass under the black paint I was thinking a nut that would go into a rubber grommet for something that mounts on a window?
What are your thoughts.

If it actually goes to something in the cab, there would likely be some more of the same fasteners holding something on or together. Only, one will be missing. This one, that you found.
Usually, if something uses a fastener like that, it will require several, not just one.

On another note, my guess is, it goes to something that is put in, and then taken back out periodically. An equipment monitor (baler, planter), CB radio, GPS system. You name it. All of this stuff uses bracketry. Looks like a fastener to bracketry to me.
