Got the DC all back together Saturday. Started with a broken drive chain.
Of course one you open one up the proble.s multiply. Found a bad gear.
Also a bad bearing on the live power shaft. I knew the hydraulic pump was weak and when I looked at that I found the housing worn.
Took a hit of cleaning to get the milky oil out of the housing. I used a pump sprayer and some diesel to clean it. Worked good.
The engine oil was milky too, as usual in the spring. So that got drained and I flushed some diesel through it to flush it as well. So with new chain, gear, bearing, pump and oil, she's ready for another 69 years of service.
