Tractor rims

Is there a difference in the double bevel rims for tractor manufacturer or are they all the same? I've heard from a fairly reliable source that Deere rims have a different spacing on the bubble in the bevel compared to other tractors. So you can not use Deere rims on say an IH or something like that. Or maybe the IH has a different spacing than the others.

Maybe on some wheels, but I've seen Deere wheels on IH tractors that are double bevel. While early wheels for cast centers were the wide base that all makes used, when the double bevel came most all makes switched as it made wheel row spacing easier.

All I know is if you buy a replacement, they come in multiple colors and the rims are the same other than the paint.

If you take a look, the bubbles/nubs/drive lugs on double bevel rims are not evenly spaced. At least not on the three 10x38 rims I have sitting here.

It was something I noticed just looking at those rims one afternoon. Those nubs don't look like they're spaced evenly, and sure enough, they aren't when I measured them. They get farther apart as you go.

The hubs that use double bevel rims use 8-12-16 lugs depending on the tractor. At least the ones I've seen. The 400 has 8 lugs. The 856 has 12 lugs. The 1586 has 16 lugs.

You only really need to engage two nubs on the rim.

Thanks guys. I never had really thought much about it. There is a set for sale I was looking at and with rims I would just have to bolt them on. the reason for asking. Again Thanks guys.

I don't think Deere and J.I. Case will interchange. I could be wrong, but here is what happened to me. I had the clamps spin on the nubs while on a multi day tractor ride. One of the ride sponsors, a major tire chain, tried their hardest to find me a rim so I could continue the ride the next day. They said the Deere spacing and Case spacing were not the same, they tried a couple salvage yards (Colfax and ??) to no avail. My tractor sat out the 2nd and third days ride. That my story, I could be all wrong, but, it would be a wise move to measure the spacing of the nubs before you buy. gobble

Might depend on how old or new they are they are. I can tell you that the old letter series Deere and IH won't fit and Oliver, but the number series will. I've got a Deere 3010 rim on my Oliver 1600 and an IH 560 rim on my 1550. If they'll both fit the Oliver, they'll interchange with each other.

these ar double bevel not the drop center likt the H,m and other letter series tractors of that time frame. This would be for tractors of the 60's up.

Same for Deere, the 3020-4020 has 12 lugs, and the 4520-4850 has 16. The 3020-4020 rim has 3 driven nubs, and 4520-4850 has 4 driven nubs and is thicker. (At least I believe it is thicker just by looking at it).
