My dad always had Belgium draft horses as a hobby. He had a good bit of horse equipment. He had one horse that when he left him out of his stall would make a mad run to get out of the barn each morning. Dad had enough of almost getting run over. He had someone else let the horse loose and he stood outside the door with about a 4 ft 2x4. Just as the horse got to the door dad hit him in the head as hard as he could. Fixed the problem. For as long as dad owned that horse he would walk to the door, stop and look both ways before leaving the barn. Thanks for the funny to make me remember that story from dad. Tom

My dad said his grandma still had one horse left when he was a kid and him and his brother would hop on it and ride it around the barn lot. One day they jumped on and the horse ran out of the barn and dad smacked his head on the beam above the door. They figure he grew over the winter and the stall need cleaned. That was the last time they rode the horse in the barn.Dad said the horse was old then( early 50s) and his grandma sent him a letter when he was in the army saying it died. Figured it was close to 30 years old. It was born, worked and died on the farm.

I was driving west on a town road after dark. I met a car heading east. Then BAM. I hit a deer. It had waited for the east bound car to go by and then ran a crossed the road. I have seen quite a few deer play the same game.

An old man who lives near the track told me one time he saw a mama bear and two cubs approach the track.the mama bear stood on her hind legs looked both ways went back to all fours and crossed

My Grandma, who died in 1985 at age 91, used to walk through the pasture to get the milk cow to bring back to the barn and milk her.
A bull was in that pasture and always threatened her.
She took a pitchfork with her one day and when the bull came after her, she sunk it in his head.
Bull always respected her after that.
