Double tractor seat

Ok so I am in the process of putting a double seat on my 77 so my bride and I can ride together on rides. Putting this out here to be critiqued. I am still planning on putting some springs on the back of the seats, they just haven't got here yet. Look the pictures over and let me know what I am missing. Thanks

Have you tried just sitting on one side? That suspension tends to be a little tippy. My cousin still swears that's what's wrong
with his back. Those fingers will probably have some wear and give to them. I hope the rubber torsion springs will take the weight.

Good to see more 2 seaters.

What areas do you ride? We did 20 rides last year, crossed the Missouri River and the Mississippi River.

I would recommend a hand rail on the top of the fender for the passenger so they are not hanging on to the steering wheel with
you. I used 38 rod threaded on both ends and bend to fit.

If she is shorter than you its good to have a foot rest she can reach comfortably when your going downhill or hitting the brakes.

Buggy top canopy sure is nice when the sun is hot or the rain is cold.

I will be watching for a sharp 2 seater 77 hoping our paths will cross somewhere this summer. We will be riding a Farmall Super HTA
2 seater.

Randy, take a look under the seat, I put 2 braces so it is solid when I have the 2 seats on. I relaxed the torsion all the way so the springs have minimum tension on them. But yes without the braces it was tipsy. 2late, thanks for the suggestions, I will have to look into that. Currently we mainly ride in NW Iowa. Hopefully our paths cross sometime.

I have the heavy coil spring and a truck cab air bag on the Massey Harris seat frame under the school bus seat on the Ford 6000 Commander I put together for tractor rides
in 2020. If one person is on the seat dash air gage only needs about five PSI. The seat air valve needs about 30-40 PSI so two have a smooth ride. With air it's easy to
set the seat height/ride that's needed.

So if the braces make it solid what are these springs you talk about going to be doing? This isn't what your asking but I would suggest putting a canopy on so your bride doesn't have to ride in the sun.

Oh I'm sorry, the seats flip up. Purchased some lawnmower seat springs that I will put under the rear portion of the seat. It should take up some of the bumps.

C'mon I've seen your rig and that doesn't half describe what you've done to IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What will happen if you drive it without a passenger?

I would vote for a bench seat, so you could sit in the middle if
you don't have a passenger.

I question the 1/4 inch plate the seats are bolted to. I would start over with a whole different build up. Like a couple of tubes across the top of the housing and then use a couple used truck air seats. they can be had out of semi's in a junkyard. The air seat will ride better and could be adjusted for each's riding comfort. After all she doesn't want to be bounced around like a ball from a stiff seat and you don't want to bottom out for her. An air tank can be mounted Anyplace you find convenient. Plastic air line for that could be 1/4 inch to the seats with a tee for each seat. Don't bother with the push lock fittings they will go to leaking later on. Use the brass threaded fittings they don't have to be tightened up like they are holding the world either. Just so you can't pull the line out is tight enough. An air fill stem like a tire will do for the air supply to the tank unless it has a self leveling valve in the seat if so then you will need an air compressor on the tractor. An electric one would work.

Where are you located in NW Iowa, I have 1 In Cylinder with armrests you could look at Bert 712-298-0289

I cant see the clutch pedal,if you want to you can add
a hinged tab like on a backhoe when both brakes are
used together .that tab could be kicked out from the
clutch pedal either side to let either person reach it
from the non-center position .kinda like the hammer
extension on a scoped rifle

Thanks for all of the ideas, looks like I have more work to do. Our rides are mostly gravel so I did a solo run yesterday, even without much seat suspension its smoother than our 8n. Super B we are in Marcus.
If I do a solo ride or when it goes to pull loads to town this fall I just swap seats out, will only take 10 minutes as of now.
Thanks once again
