Fence Charger

I am having a problem with something eating my new plants. I have chicken wire around the plants, buried in the ground, and closed at the top. Something is digging under the buried wire.. I am thinking of putting a fence charger wire around my plants. Maybe two wires a few inches apart. Will this kill a rabbit or squirrel, if I wet the dirt? A electric fence sure gives me a jolt, I'm hopping it will at least keep the critters out, and maybe even kill them? What do you think? Stan

To keep out squirrels, I electrified our bird feeders with the cheapest charger TSC sells. It's actually intended for small farm animals like rabbits and chickens. So far no squirrels have died, but they sure don't like it when they get a jolt from the feeder.

If you are considering going electric, I suggest Premier Fence Company. They have an electric net that keeps everything but birds out. I used one for years. Works good!

I have no idea what you are having but a rabbit or squril will NOT dig a hole to get in. I raised rabbits commercialy for a few years.
