Massey Ferguson we bought yesterday fired up so fast it scared me! No starting fuild. Same 18 year old diesel. All we did was hook up battery, un hook breather hose( so we could choke it to death if needed) and hit the switch. Runs great. No smoke. Not bad for a moron. ( See post below) lol

Diesels are like that. The Case I have was like that. Sat for several years, new battery and old fuel and fired right off.

You cannot choke a diesel, if you reduce the air it will throw black smoke and stop. The fuel intake is governed by what the injection pump and injectors put out which will remain fixed, within limits, and is set on a test rig by a diesel technician like Dieseltech.

You have got one of the best tractors made there, and this comes from a dedicated Ford man who demonstrated against them many times.

Perkins power, push in the diesel stop turn key go to work. Some advice, if it has multi power do not shift the gear trans unless the MP is in low. Tractors with MP will coast down hill in low MP. Do not trust the fuel gauge, even if it appears to work. Avoid running it out of fuel. I have two 65 diesels a high arch and a standard with a loader. It may have Thermo-Start which will allow starting into the 20s with no issues, turn key up listen for the pop and crank. No ether. It will become your goto tractor.
