Tried to look up a question on this, but couldnt find one. Have a older, 1970s John Deere 1830 tractor made in Germany. Have serial number but dint know year. Is there a place to look this up. Serial number 339080L.

A web search for "John Deere 1830 serial numbers", turns up a couple sites with lists. It would appear yours is 1979 based on those lists.

Sometimes the year model info is available in JD parts catalog but as you're probably aware not this model. Have you tried contacting your JD dealer for this info?

A web search for "John Deere 1830 serial numbers", turns up a couple sites with lists. It would appear yours is 1979 based on those lists.

The info yiu provided is appreciated. Our local dealer is not that friendly, theyd likely try and get me to bring it in.
 
Tractordata.com for serial numbers. Up here in Canada we got the German made Deeres. 1830 and 2130 are fairly common tractors in Canada. Good tractors
based on my experience working for a farmer with a 2130 but that was many years ago.
 

TractorData doesn't list the 1830 serial numbers. I found the lists at J*ensales and tractor*joe's.

The names (without the *) of the places with the lists got this blocked before.
