Louisiana Food

Seems them Canuck people like them some spicy Louisiana food as they waited for hours in the drive thru of a new Popeyes.
Since Popeyes sells both regular and spicy chicken one has to wonder how many outside of this area actually buy the spicy
version or if the spicy version is really like the original recipe.
I know the New Orleans area is the only place McDonalds still sells the Hot and Spicy chicken sandwich.
Everywhere else only sells the regular McChicken.
Traffic jam in Canada

The sheeples are just doing what they do!

I rarely get beyond the standard '20 minute wait' for a table. Unless it's something special I turn around and walk!

The news (if you can believe anything they say) said people mobbed the McDonalds in Ukraine when they announced they were closing. Showed people buying grocery bags full of burgers, stuffing their refrigerators, like they would still be good when they got around to eating them in a month!

As a Canadian who really likes spicy food and has been to Popeyes on both sides of the border its not that great. Its okay but for me its certainly not worth waiting in line for. As far as Canadians being easy to amuse I think we are yes. I certainly giggle at the idiots waiting in line at Popeyes or Tim Hortons or insert name of fast food place here.

The closer one gets to the equator the spicier the food. Food up my way is pretty bland. Maybe an occasional bay leaf thrown in. We don't have a problem keeping things frozen (;>)). You folks down south have to spice it up a bit.

Am in southern Mich. We have spicy chcken at McD's. And I have visited N.O. about 6 times, love that city and the food !!!

I have this discussion with my children. They are both food aware thanks to their good Mother and me. We confuse spiciness with heat. Hot food is hot, I'm not tasting spice per se just varying grades of eye watering heat. I haven't been to a quick go by place for food for a long time and hopefully won't be any time soon.

I still like spicy food. Used to like hot food also. Can still eat spicy food. After real hot food the next day I need to sit on a block of ice. Doesnt agree with me like it did when I was younger. Still have it in small doses though when Ill be home the next day not far from the bathroom.

I have liked Popeyes for 35 years, but hot it is not. There was a three day back up in town last week when a new Sonic opened. I expect to wait in line for fresh fried chicken tomorrow, and I sure won t be in line more than 15 minutes.

There is no need to put a lot of spice, hot or otherwise on good quality food. I personally absolutely hate spicy foods and avoid it like the plague.
Give me Beef, and vegetables, give me Pork and Cabbage, broccoli or asparagus. If it doesnt live in dry land, I dont want to eat it, lol.

don't forget us who like the fresh from the sea...but i agree the fresh and grass fed stuff after 3 months of processing storage is not something to line up for and then complain about being stuck in a lineup.
Those people are amusing....their sticks are too short, to be on the ice.....

When any new food chain opens they line up. Popeyes now looks deserted some say they don't think they will make it here. A few weeks after opening a employee came down with hepatitis local folks shy away from there.

I have a Cajun connection they bring me Cajun Cousins I make sure they get their belly full of eastern NC barbecue. I am setting here drinking Community Coffee they hooked me on.

I'm with you. I hate overly spicy foods.

By mistake, I once got a hot dog that actually blistered my lower lip. How can anyone possibly enjoy eating something like that?

People 'inland' don't know what good fresh seafood is.

There was a place I used to go to in Morehead City, NC, right on the east coast. You could sit there eating seafood and look out the window and watch them unload the boat. Now that's fresh seafood!

Yes but I think spicy is like buying winter clothes. In the northern climates we can buy clothes for the area and when one gets down as close as Indianapolis IN you find the winter clothes are a lot lighter insulated. And nothing like going down south enough to make folks want a coat at 55-60 degrees and walk around in shirt sleeves in February. They think we are nuts. They are all bundled up in what, they think are winter coats and such till they see what we buy up north farther. Just my thoughts on spicy. And no I don't like anything that has to swim to get around. If it needs all that junk to be edible then it is probably not edible.

I am withyou on spice, don't need or want it. I do like fish but that is all the sea food I will eat.

I think it was called 'Mom & Pop's Pier'.

A buddy of mine and I had a trailer house at Atlantic Beach, We used to drive a boat over there, tie the boat up, and go in and eat.

Popeyes is about as "Cajun" as Pizza Hut is "New York Style Pizza."

I've never had their chicken sandwich because when it first came out people went nuts and they were out of stock for months. Both times I did try to get one, they were out of stock so I ordered something else off the menu.

In both cases when I pulled up to the window and looked in, the place was FILTHY. The employees were wading through garbage on the floor. First time I thought it was a fluke and went to another location the second time. After finding the conditions the same at both, I have not been back.
