Could someone help me figure out what I have here? I bought a Ford thousand series tractor that is a diesel. Here are the numbers on the tractor:

6K12B
K186
B*830436

[/img:dce1152348]

Model numbers are not there
6K12B is the production date
6 = year ending in 6, could be 1966, 76, 86
K = October
12 = day of the month
B = day shift

B*830436 is a serial number for a tractor built in Basildon England, not sure what the * is for
B830436 would be for a tractor built before 4/1/68 so that should make yours a 66 model

Look in the rough area behind the numbers you listed for another set of numbers, that should be the model numbers

You wont be able to post photos until you have around 7-10 postings

Edit: Corrected the build month from Nov to Oct

Thank you for the response! Here are all of the numbers I can find on the tractor.

Side of Engine (3 cylinder diesel): C5NN 6015
Serial #PD201542J126

Back of Engine: 6K12B
K186
B*830436

Side of Transmission: 6D7C
C5NN-7006-B
FoMoCo
P-M-V 4
555

Top plate near shifter: TF GRD14
C5NN-7222L

C5NN6015 on the engine is a block casting
code:. C means 1960s, 5 means 1965 when
the block was designed, NN means for
tractor use, 6015 is an engine block. The
date code previously decoded by Destroked
450 indicates a 1966 tractor production
date. A serial number starting with a B
means a tractor produced in England at the
Basildon factory. At the time Basildon
was producing the 3000. Chances are you
have a 1966 3000.

It might be better to post to the Ford
forum with Ford decoding questions.

None of those numbers are the model code, but the engine serial number PD2101542J126 tells me it is diesel engine for a 4000 model
That's a start

As I said look in the rough area behind the serial number, it may be hard to see like the 5000 model code in the photo
