Hey guys,

I apparently ruffles some feathers the other day by posting this in the Deere, Allis, IH and Case forum because that model carb is used on all 4 brands. I spoke with a mod and he recommended I post it here instead. I have recently decided to start making how to vids when I come across small projects such as this in an effort to help out others that may not done the task before. I do not get paid for this, so this is not self promotion. I am simply looking to help others, and invite feedback on the video content in order to get better next time. Anyways, here is a vid of me cleaning and rebuilding the TSX model carb on my Case 311B.

Let me know what you think!

Good video! Saw it the other day on the Deere forum......not sure why any feathers would be ruffled though?

I think your delivery was clear & the information would be helpful to those attempting a carb job for the first time.

The aspect of cleanliness during the rebuild & ensuring all of the circuits are clear / free of debris is often under stressed by folks putting out YT vids. Improper cleaning probably accounts for the majority of unsuccessful rebuild attempts by novices & "experts" alike. Taking a rubber tipped blow gun & jetting air though every single port, paying close attention to where the air is going(coming out of on the other end) is a good way to gain an understanding of how all of the circuits function to make a carb actually work.

Great video!

Clear and concise, no bumbling around in confusion as so many are!

Here is my constructive feedback:

The short steel fuel line and fitting should have been removed. There may have been trash hiding behind the
fitting, there may have been a screen that needed cleaning.

When installing the throttle plate, the idle speed screw should be backed off so the plate goes fully
closed. That is what centers the plate exactly in the center of the bore. Some throttle and choke plate screws are bradded from the factory. Unless you are sure they really need to come out, and have a new shaft and screws in hand, best leave them alone! A drop of blue Locktite is
advisable on the screws.

The float should have been given the 'shake test', listening and feeling for fuel inside the pontoons. The
float level was not checked.

Upon the final installation and start up, it would be good to cover the importance of servicing the fuel
filter screen and sediment bowl, verifying the tank is clean, and flushing the line before making the final
connection. Most carb fails are due to trash in the tank and line getting in the needle valve.

And a final segment on the proper adjustment of the idle and high speed jet would have been a nice close.

But all in all, it was a good video!

fixer2u I put a TSX on a Ford NAA today that I overhauled. I use a bead blaster to clean the carburetors then used clear coat to put a finish on them. Lynn

I wish I had a bead blaster! I am surprised though at how well the harbor freight ultrasonic cleaner works though especially with the heat turned on and using a degreaser in there.
