f20 SN plate

Hello
I am restoring a 1938 f20 for FFA. The serial number plate is about to fall off because it is broken on the corners. I found a new plate but don't know how to get the numbers in it. Any ideas?

Hand stamps. Just pound gently. Tag is thin and I think aluminum.

I'm thinking the numbers are stamped
into the plate. The plate then riveted
to the tool box. Anyone that has a
number stamping set with the correct
size of number stamps, could do the
stamping for ya. If you can't
find/know of anybody that can do it,
you could probably buy the tooling to
do it yourself.

For what it's worth, the tractor had
serial number stamped in three
locations. The plate, the top of left
frame rail, and a flat space on the
block. A huge percentage of the time,
all three of these numbers (from
factory) would match. If these numbers
don't all three match today, the tool
box, the frame rail, or engine block
has been swapped out over the years.
OR, ... there is the SLIM possibility
they didn't match in the beginning
from factory. USUALLY, if they didn't
match from factory, they would be
reasonably close (not production years
apart).
Bottom line, if all three numbers
don't match (old serial number plate
included), I don't think I would worry
much about even having the new one
stamped. Years from now, anyone who
sees mis-matched numbers might just
assume the tool box has been changed.
Won't take anything for granite.

I restore serial number plates of all brands of tractors, trucks, and implements. Have repaired many with torn out corners if you want to save the original plate. Or I can make new replacements. If you just need the numbers stamped on a new plate I can also do that. I have various sizes of stamps and jig to make sure the alignment and spacing is done correctly. Just a word of caution - stamping is not as easy as it looks. Let me know if you need anything.
