Well, I have the inclination, the maturity, and the where with all. Unfortunately I dont have the technology.

Looks like a Hop Barn....the concrete steps on the left probably lead to the kiln under the drying floor.

Close. Henry Gretsch built this granary over a century
ago. It included a a grain leg in the center, 5 bins
upstairs, and a op floor on the main level. Built out of
milled 4x4 Tamarack 2 ft oc downstairs with milled board
sheathing and 2 in Oak floor. Upstairs is 2 in white oak
joists, boughten pine shiplap floor framed by boughten
2x4 stacked bin walls. We are disassembling the
accoutrements preparing it for a move to Junkshow and
we discovered the mechanical workings were made and
supplied by RR Howell Eq Co Minneapolis Minnesota. Not
being familiar with this firm some research reveals they
were a diverse manufacturer of farm and industrial
equipment in the fist part of the last century. They
produced equipment like feed grinders water and oil
rilling equipment, to sawmills, and equipment in between.

Very interesting....the outward shape and the cupola are very reminiscent of hop barns here in NY State.
Whats a Junkshow?

Albany Pioneer Days. Albany Minnesota. An old timer I
used to work with would rib me about all that old stuff
and he gave it that monicker.

As an intersting side note, "Howell" grain legs continue to be manufactured and serviced by S-M Inc.

"In 2003, S-M acquired the R.R. Howell Company. We are now a leader in the bucket elevator and drag conveyor fields."
