What was the first tractor you owned

1937 Farmall F-12. Purchased by my dad, uncle & good friend back in 1969 to aid in tree removal of their adjacent cottages, it slowly fell into disrepair in the mid 70's and was replaced by a Ford Jubilee. In high school, I started to care for the F-12, and ownership to me was transferred to me then. A minor engine rebuild happened in the 1990s and some temporary paint. 3 years ago, at it's 50 year mark, it was again cleaned up & painted and new fenders made. This year launches 53 years its been a part of my life.

'45 JD BO It's still here but my Grand daughter asked if she could have it & I gave it to her. Photo was taken yrs ago when it was on display at local JD dealer.

1946 Allis Chalmers B, that I later traded for a 1953 Allis Chalmers WD. Same fellow still has the B, but I sold the WD about 20 years ago. Fellow that bought it died and the family had an estate auction about 5 years ago. I was hoping to buy it back, but the family decided to keep that tractor to maintain the farm site. Sold all the others on the auction. So, as far as I know, its still in their shed.

A 1948 Farmall M with front end loader. I owned it for 9 years. Had it repainted and sold it to a collector. Worst tractor I ever owned. Kow Farmer

That's sort of hard to pin point due the the fact they where more my dads then mine up till he died then they all became mine 100%. But the first one my dad and I got together was the Ford 841S that I still have. I also have a 1935 JD B that was owned by my grand father and it was my dads before it was mine

In 1980 I bought a 1948 JD 'D' Rear steel and rubber on front. Sold it 5 yrs later.

36 F-20. Still have it today. Don't use it much. It's work days are long over. I might pull (move) stuff around the yard with it. I try to drive it every now and again because I feel like it's hard on a 20 to just sit around and not run. It'll become a non-runner if it's left to just sit. A 20 is worse about that, than other tractors.

In 1974 I purchased 244 acres of farmland.
The Tractors came with the Farm.
Styled JD AR
15-30 McCormick
1927 Hart-Parr
Ferguson TEA-20

Still own them and they spend their lives housed in sheds.

Bob.. North Western Alberta

The first was a 3020 John Deere. It was given to me and I still own it.

Many long hard days in the sandbox when it was new.

The first one I owned through purchase was a 1370 Case. Still have it too.

Ok?? You usually don't here a previous M owner say that. What did you not like about it? What did you replace it with??

My M had a cracked head on it at one time. During that time, it could of been classified as a LEMON. Un-dependable to start, and never could be made to run right during that time. I did a partial overhaul and replaced the head. That straightened it all out obviously. About the only complaint I ever had with mine.

Although they didn't have live PTO and hydraulics, or 3 point, that was kind of to be expected on a tractor from the 40's.

A late JD B. My father-in-law bought it with mounted cultivators for $50 & gave it to me. I drove it home from Pinckneyville, Illinois. Cultivated corn & moved round bales with it. We used it for about 10 years then traded it and a JD A for a JD 50 that I still use.

'49 Case VAC. I let a friend use it for raking hay, the second year he used it, he begged me to sell it to him, he also got my offset disc.
Regret selling it to him to this day. That was a great little tractor.

1939 Farmall A - Family tractor since new. Runs well, always starts on a couple cranks, dependable little tractor. Have a sickle bar mower for it.

Oliver 1850, used it to grind feed for bil hog farm. Sold it to same bil to upgrade to a 1066. Bil still has it for grinding feed and anger work

WD Allis bought for $500 when I was in 9th grade in school. Sold it and bought it back and sold it again. Used the money from it to help buy my Deere 2510. Tom

When my Dad quit farming, He gave me a '54 Case DC. I didn't 'farm', but it was handy on my 3 acres. Have passed it on to my son. And my first(& 2nd)purchase are Ferguson TO-30's. At 80, these are so easy on & off..

If so, I'm with you there. The first I have owned is a 1983 John Deere 210 with mower deck and front blade.
The tractor and deck are retired and were once restored. Kind of a shed queen now.

A 1959 Super Dexta. Year I was born. My dad had one, when I was a kid, when fuel was 16 cent a gallon. It was new-ish, and did not have a battery. He parked it on a hill, rolled it off, and used it all day and parked it again. I had to get one. Still have it.

My first was an MC crawler with a model 61 blade.Years later the owner of the JD shop I worked at said,I've been through a typhoon on a patrol boat in the Mekong Delta, and I would rather do that again than ride a 3 roll crawler.30 years later I owned another one and realized just how right he was.

Farmall 400 diesel sn 5983. Had to sell it to help pay for college, but hope to find it again someday.

My first one I bought by myself was a 1946 Massey Harris 101 SR with a Continental 226 flathead engine to pull my sawmill.
That was one very stout engine and pulled the mill really well.
Another one I wish I had back.
Richard in NW SC

JD 3010 diesel from a Farmers Home dispersal in 1977. I added the New Idea loader in 1980, and it had had it ever since. Still Old Reliable, but mostly on sprayer and hay duty these days.

Hi Red for life. My M had a mind of its own. Started when it wanted too. Steering column was broken and the hydraulic loader was slower than molasses in January. Some things were from past owners neglect too. I paid $750 cash for it and after it was repainted I slid it to a collector for $1500 cash. Kow Farmer

1977 IH 986 which is still here and currently getting the injection pump worked on. Should run like new once reinstalled.

The first tractor my dad got was a Speedex. Can't remember exactly which model, but seems it was 12hp.

After that he traded the Speedex in and got a Pasquali 986 from the last dealer in the USA that was selling them. Not sure why, but he hated it! It's still my most favorite tractor, but lost it in an out-of-state auto accident. Had no way to haul it 1,100 miles back for repair.

I had also talked dad into buying a Ferguson TO-30 that had just been fully restored. Again, he didn't like it. I thought it was a wonderful machine, but it did not have the maneuverability necessary for our acreage. When he decided to sell one or the other, I had my choice of keeping the Ferguson or the Pasquali for my own. I chose the Pasquali.

I bought a new Bolens 1450 lawn tractor as a present for my folks. Then I bought myself
a 1941 John Deere H. You'd think I'd remember where I got it, but I don't. Sold it
to a neighbor who painted it all up and shows it. Fits in with his two-cylinder motorcycles.

1973 JD 2120 that my dad bought new...I bought it in 1981....put a JD 521 loader on it.....still in regular use here.

Ben

806 Diesel and still have it. Own an 856 also. Had plenty of smaller tractors when started with dad. He had an H,MD,574 830 case. I started renting ground away from the home place no tractors to be able to pull the plow he pulled with the Cat. D-4 and a NO6 traxcavator(track loader model) or same as a D-6 with the 6 cylinder diesel not the 3 cylinder in the earlier ones.

460 IH. Sold it to a guy that had way to much money and then it burnt in his shed full of hay when lightning hit it

1948 John Deere A sold it to amna who bought for his wife so she could take it to plow days and tractor pull with it

'38 John Deere A. It had the Behlen overdrive, live hyd pump behind the mag, and a JD #50 loader. I bought it to push snow with, but it was a hard starting old cuss, so I sold it and moved into town. That was in 1968.

My first tractor is a IH 856 that I bought in 2000, and still have it. I also have 2 240's, one row crop and one utility with a loader, a 574 with a loader, a 450 propane burner, an M and an H, a 350 row crop that was a diesel, but was converted to gas and a 684 with a loader.

1974 IHC 766 diesel. Bought it new for 13,000. Still have the original invoice but traded it years ago. Really good tractor for its day

52 Farmall H. Bought in 76. New Idea trip bucket loader. Bought it to haul manure, grind feed for the hog farm I was starting.

I can imagine it being rough . A crawler isnt smooth no matter how long the tracks unless it has an undercarriage that can walk

Cub with the yellow paint and white hood. Built sometime in the 1960s, it was sitting at a friend's orchard in PA and he left it out with the exhaust open and it drank in a lot of water. Finally told him to re-sell it when I realized the engine was stuck and I had no way to get it home. Probably never moved three inches during the time I owned it. Gerrit

First one bought with my money was a used 1978 Kubota L285 with FEL. Still have it. Very reliable service going on about 24 years of ownership now.

1927 John Deere D. Still have it. Nothing but a pile of rust with a split block when I bought it. Looks like a new one now. On steel with new original style lugs.

5 years ago we bought our first tractor a Ford 640. Week later a Ford 960. Week later a Farmall cub....... Got bit hard by the bug! Lol

1940 John Deere H, ran but badly worn out. Totally overhauled it and used it for 25 years. I re-did the sheet metal, got everything original and showed it at EXPO in 2001.

1959 Allis Chalmers D17 gasser when I worked in Michigan and bought an 18 acre hobby farm. Sold it when I left the state, got the fever when I landed in Washington state....have owned over 100 tractors since then. I have about 60 left to move in the next couple of years....
