You have found the "draft control lever" affecting the behavior of the 3-point hitch.

"D" (Depth) is used for most operations except for pulling "heavy ground engaging implements" (think plowing).

"L" (Load) is used for "heavy ground engaging implements", it raises the implement under heavy draft load, lessening the draft load and putting weight on the rear tires for traction.

The area between the two selects how sensitive the "Load" function is.

You can purchase, view for free, or download for free an Operator's Manual for your tractor at the following link.

It sounds as if you need a 4020 operators manual. Photo below is from 4020 operators manual.

(quoted from post at 12:41:48 03/11/22) Draft control for the three point hitch:
L - Load
LD - Load and Depth
D - Depth

Thank you for that info...I also don't know where the override is so I can tow the tractor without hurting the transmission

L-LD-D is sensitivity for the three-point arms as for plowing and three-point operation.. Powershift transmission disconnect lever ( TOW ) is 'under' the platform at the left rear corner..
