The price varies depending on the specific type of metal. The last time I took scrap for sale, about 2 months ago, the price for shredder metal was .12/pound so 120/1000 pounds or 240/ton.

Local small yard is paying $90 a ton un-prepared. Last time I asked them about prepared, they didn't seem to want to give a quote. I suspect to benefit them, however I think they would of worked with a guy if you showed up with a load, and they seen what they was getting. I didn't have a load of prepared, so I didn't push them on the subject.
Same place was $130 a ton awhile back, so they are down from what they use to be. Gonna just sit tight on mine.

What is prepared steel ? I take some in about once a year just to clean up. All gets unloaded bay the shredder. Could be anything from a small Briggs engine to truck rotors.

Not sure what iron is going for around me but I did get a text this morning from a buyer at the scrap yard. Hes begging for bare bright copper and offering 4.23 a pound. Im headed his way tomorrow.

Monday I took in 1400 lbs and got 6.11 cents a lb. Just junk and quite a bit of galvanize pipe. Was glad to get rid of if

They don't like big stuff when they melt it back down. So prepared is smaller pieces, and perhaps cleaned and of a certain metal type. This might vary from one place to another.

Outs went up to 1.70 a ton Monday. If a magnet will stick to it they will take it,any size. North MO

China is buying more Iron ore. Price of ore is about double from a year ago. I would expect scrap iron to be going up too.

Not high enough. Always gave mine to whoever would pick it up and haven't had anyone pickup since first stimulus checks went out.
