Deutz 6240 Wiring Schematic

Good Afternoon,

I am the proud owner of a 6240 I rescued from a hedgerow. The
tractor is in excellent shape with 2200. The owner thought the
clutch had gone out in it, it was actually in the neutral position
on the power control on the dash! I flushed everything serviced
it, and had it running like a top within a couple of hours.
Unfortunately, mice and squirrels have done some damage to
the wiring under the dash. Any chance someone can share a
wiring schematic with me?

Hi JBMac76,
I am not sure if I can help or not. We have a 6260 and I will see if I can find its documentation. Sometimes the manual has a wiring schematic, or a wiring schematic out sent out with them when new. We have had ours since new. Where are you located? I know a dealer who could certainly help but they are a very small family run operation and I don't feel comfortable swamping them with calls from everyone throughout the country who has a Deutz tractor.

Regardless, congratulations on the 6240! 2wd or 4wd? I have not ever actually seen one with the power control. I believe that is rare. Our 6260 is mfwd with a loader. We have done and continue to do things no little 56hp tractor should be doing. Neighbors and others who have seen it in action have told us so. Short wheelbase with good turning angle makes it really handy especially for loader work, and can get through mud and snow for those less than desirable days that we call just another day on the farm.

I will get back to you if I can help. Good Luck!

Thank you for offering to help. This is the first Deutz tractor Ive ever had in the fleet. Mine is a 2 Wheel Dr, but I think it shares a lot of components, from what Ive gathered, with the larger tractor in that series that you own. You are right about it being a very capable tractor. I took it out for its maiden voyage mowing a few acres of pretty heavy weeds with the bush hog, 7 foot. It didnt sound like it even broke a sweat. It is also very well designed. You dont see many down here in Florida, I dont know if its because they are air cooled or there never was much of a dealer network. A lot of industrial pumps and generators are powered by that same engine, I see them regularly. I understand the key to longevity for these engines is to keep them clean. If you happen to come across that diagram, feel free to email it to [email protected]. Thanks Again!

I did not get a chance to look any thing up today; hopefully tomorrow I will remember to.

Yeah Florida is a ways from Wisconsin. As I said I do not really want to swamp my little dealer from up here with calls from throughout the whole country. They have sold Deutz tractor since the 70's and continue to sell them.

I have added a link to the Deutz-Fahr North America website. Going to their find a dealer page it looks like there are a couple dealers in Florida. Realistically they should be able to help you with documentation, as they can get parts for the old Deutz tractors. The trouble is many of the new Deutz-Fahr dealers never sold the old ones so they know nothing about them. My dealer told me they are constantly getting calls from the new Deutz dealers asking questions about working on the old ones.

Yes, keep the engine clean and keep leaks from top of engine (valve covers especially) under control. I am surprised there are not more in Florida since even dating back to the late 60's and even up to now their main distribution hub was headquartered in the Atlanta area. Being hotter in Florida should not be the deterrent; they can actually handle external temperature extremes better than water cooled engines, again if kept clean.

I will send you an email if I find anything.

Many many thanks. I had filmed one nearby but they only handle industrial engines, may need to sharpen my search skills, ha ha.
