One dead in accident in southeastern Vigo County

Sheriff John Plasse in a news release said deputies dispatched on a report of an overturned tractor located a 51-year-old man pinned beneath the tractor.

Article is a little short on details. Please remember, tractors can be death machines too..

There was a accident here in Lamar County Texas Monday. Tractor was traveling along Hwy 82 when a 2500 Chevy ran into rear knocking man off tractor killing him. Said driver of truck was probably texting.
 
Had a guy I went to high school with 3 years older than I am and lived down the road. Rode the same bus together .Hadnt seen him for a bunch of years, but then saw him in the woods while hunting. We talked a while and went on our way. Less than a week later he ran into the back of manure spreader going down the road when he tried to pass it. Pretty sad. The guy was a little wild and should have known better. Glad I got to see him one more time. It doesnt always work that way.
 
When I was a kid, neighbor got ran over while driving his tractor by a semi. Killed him too.
 
A young man 22 married with children was killed about a week ago. He worked for an arborist company clearing power lines. He was loading the mats that they drive the trucks over on soft ground. Wind got under the mats and they slid off the truck onto him. His partner went to school with our kids and worked for me for a year or two. Very sad
 
People just cant slow down for anybody. I pulled out on a side street today there was a row of trees 25 mph street didnt see a truck coming you would have thought I had cost the guy 15 minutes because he had to step on the brake a little bit
 
Must have been a hurricane to lift crane mats. Those are pretty heavy for a wind to move. 8 inch thick timbers bolted together 10-30 foot long 8 feet or so wide.
