Bought some catfood yesterday.Dry food shelf was practicly empty.Webought the last 16 lb bag. There were a few 30 lb and some smaller bags. There may be some hungry cats soon.Didnt look at the dog food.

I have been having problems buying canned cat food for the last month or two. Most shelves are empty. The dry cat food that we buy, we have been able to get, but I try to be a bag ahead. When Menards had their bag sale in January, the shelves of the smaller bags were empty. The next week they had the variety that we buy. The worker said that they were having troubles getting it.

It started months ago. The feed mill that I sell most of my grain to buys dog and cat feed half a truck load or so at a time. I knew something was up at Christmas time when a truck showed up while I was there with only 17 bags on it.

He changed brands twice chasing availability in the last 2 months, buying other products as he came across them.

First excuse was a shortage of bags, now a shortage of the vitamin package that goes into it.

prices haven't gone up much.

Been that was a couple months, but I didnt want to say anything and start panic buying......

Can food shelves are about bare for a long time, and dry food I have to stop twice to find some stock on the shelves. Also have changed brands to get through a week now and then.

Along with other issues mentioned, isnt old laying hens a big part of pet food, and with the labor shortages on the processing lines that low end has been the first to be shut down?

I heard on tv that all those supply chain problems have been taken care of, think it was someone from the dept of transportation. Yet I too am searching for canned cat food. gobble

Been that way here a while.
Lots of stuff short in our grocery stores around here.
We are stocked up pretty well and continue to stock up on things we use a lot of.

I have seen some shortages of some things as in 4 stores out of 10 in town may be the only stores that may have a particular brand of oil in stock today but I have never had a case where I could not find what I wanted.

The local mom and pop grocery has everything in stock.
The feed store has never said sorry that is out of stock.
TSC has pallets of horse; chicken; pet food on the store floor.
And if I every have a problem getting something Amazon can have it here in 1 or 2 days.

I don't do a lot of the grocery shopping, but I have noticed a shortage of some items at Walmart.

Canned biscuits, pasta, Fritos (they have all the other Frito-Lay products, just no regular or dip scoop Fritos), been missing for weeks now. Lots of empty shelves in other areas but usually find something, usually the more expensive brands are there.

Anti freeze is picked clean except for the specialty products, oil is hit and miss, lots of empty spaces.

I've been having trouble finding cat food for several months. Went strictly buying online. That was the only way. Now that has even dried up. Called cat food company several months ago and the lady said they have been making it as fast as they can. Didn't say anything about a shortage. I don't know? Is it hoarding? Probably somewhat. I've been buying as much as I can and when I can. Talking to several coworkers with cats and they are doing the same.
5w-40 diesel oil is another extremely hard item to find. Especially Shell Rotella T6 I was buying a few jugs every month online threw TSC because you couldn't find it anywhere. Now they stopped selling. Heard that oil was manufactured in the Netherlands and has been halted for whatever reason. We'll see how other brands will do once people start to panic and buy it up.

Daughter works at a large grocery store chain in the mid-West.

She says that pet food has been tough to get for weeks. Also that people foods and supplies randomly become tough to get. They order... but just do not receive any. They just keep reordering stuff, until a shipment shows up.

Thanks for reminding me. I always buy at least four bags of dry and a few cans of wet when I go to town. Have noticed for awhile my dry is getting scarce to find and the wet is getting fewer cans. It takes five bags a month to feed all the cats. Had to go to three different stores this morning to find all I needed.

tighty whities!!! Wife went to council bluffs today and stopped to pick up some new ones. Told me to order them online non in the store

The shelves in the grocery stores are about bare of chicken. Couple of weeks ago only one package, yesterday around a dozen packages of chicken. Not in market now for any so did not affect me. Other shelves also bad with big empty sections of meat.
