How high is the water Mama?

Im sure most or many on here are used to flooding and severe storm conditions but major flooding is a very rare occurrence in this area. The warehouse picture was my fun this morning lol. The warehouse has been here 49 years and has never flooded more than an inch or two at most. It was 2 deep today. I had to wade the ice cold water knee high and move everything outside. I figure its better out in the weather than half submerged in water. Thankfully the combine did start on its own. The other pictures are at a closed down store near here. Im almost glad our warehouse did flood because I now know that it can. Ill have to build the floor up 2 level with the yard so its not like a basements anymore before I start letting anyone use the space.

I've never had to deal with that much water except in a basement, where it's a very limited area. It looks really tough to manage when the whole surface is covered like that.

and as i sit here with the results of the logging winch deciding gravity was going to be tested, nothing broke but sure have some nice shades of purple, anyway i am reminded of the saying.. that there is always someone who is worst than you.. what a downer of a day you are having.
We got hard rain and strong winds, power off at 8:30 and just now back on 2:30, but wind and all is dying down for the flash freeze tonight. You be safe and dry as can be.
Need i mention the advantages of being tall...:):)

Wow you are a lucky man slim! Glad nothing is broke hopefully your not too sore. Could always be worse

felt that just for spite i was going to stand the winch back up at 11pm returning from er....but didn't :)
now the warden won't let me limp out of the house, until Monday? I should be stable footed enough by then.
no snow left here so no tracks to indicate which way i went....

just thinking..was the water somehow diverted by a snowbank of size or different location than previous years? could a bank be cut and let the water flow across the road/reduce the amount of flooding?

I dont think so, its at the bottom of a long grade, water normally runs across in front of the door and away, it just melted so fast it came flooding in the door and filled it level

Be careful workibg around high water and traveling in it. Doesnt take but a few inches of moving water to push a car. Road beds wash out and you cant see it until you fall in. Stuff gets mixed in and can create a dangerous mixture. Not to mention electricity.

Thats a good idea too thank you! I got it pumped down to around 4 of water on the floor, hoping the rest will settle down through the cracks but well see

Looks like with the snow pushed off the roads, the roads are now the lowest point for all the running water. Would be better to make the path of the water stay where it normally runs, rather than try to raise everything else. Suggest you examine the stream path carefully and figure out how it got blocked. Was it ice on top of ice? How about a blocked culvert? FYI, if a blocked culvert, now you are dealing with the highway Dept, or township to fix things. Good luck.

No issues at the culvert, it normally runs down the grade towards the Quonset veers off in front by the doors then runs down towards the ditch, it just came so fast this time it ran in underneath the doors because it couldnt get away fast enough
