I'm considering closing up the wheel spacing on the 1086 in to 30 inch rows to possibly start back cultivating corn and soybeans. Reading in the owners manual, it's not too clear if the front axle will shut in to a true 30 inch row spacing. Currently it's still set at 38 inch rows. The rear axle is no problem. Question is, will the front move in correctly ?

If it is a plain old row crop 1086 yes the front end will narrow down to 30. You can either go all the way in to the last hole or use the second hole out. If the axle has not been moved for awhile you might be in for a good exercise regimen getting it loose.

Thank you fixerupper. Yes it's a
regular row crop tractor. The rear
has been apart in the last few years
for axle bearings. The front has had
the tie rods recently replaced and
the axle tubes have slight wiggle to
em, soo, maybe it won't be too bad.

For cultivating and rotary hoeing,I prefer to set the tractor wheel spacing to 90" and offset the implement hitch 15" and run 3 rows between the wheels . Avoids using duals and works well on 130 hp tractor with 12 row equipment.
