Do they make a 6 lug donut tire for an XT5 cadillac?

I can't find a donut on ebay or amazon. The car didn't come with a spare, only a 12v air compressor. I tried removing the styrofoam insert where a spare tire would normally go and a regular tire is too fat.

The broken supply chain could bite me in the butt if I were on my way to Florida and damaged the sidewall of a tire. I'm waiting 4 days for the tire barn to get in a new set of tires.

I do have AAA with a 100 mile tow package. But the idea of camping out until I get a replacement tire is something I want to avoid.

Does anyone who owns a GM car have a 6 lug donut tire??

I plan to get my oil changed this Friday. I'll ask then.

I'm going to guess the answer is NO, because there is no room without removing the styrofoam insert.

Yepper!

Here ya go:

Go to car-part.com

You put in your vehicle

Then choose Axle and Brakes

Then Wheel (display w/image)

Then the last choice of wheels which is the compact spare

And your zipcode

A list of junkyards will show the closest ones with a spare for sale.

If the insert is there, it must have been an option?

Do the car-part search. The results will show you who in your area has a spare that interchanges with your XT5.
There are many like Acadias, Traverse, Enclave, 2019+ Blazer etc.
They would also have the oem jack and lug wrench stuff to go with.

Just did a spare for my 2022 Accord, you will have to get a different styrofoam piece, along with a jack and lug wrench, I got the foam piece from the dealer, got the tire, Jack, etc off Ebay,

If you are buying new tires, keep the old tires. If you are going to Fla. take one or 2 with you.

The only problem with the XT5 is there is no room.
The XT5 is not a family car. 2 Retired people, fishing poles and luggage max .
I can easily modify the space that holds the air compressor.

I may try flattening an old tire.

George I honestly wouldnt worry about a spare. Anymore I see very few vehicles alongside the road with a flat. I wouldnt know where to find the spare on our old 08 Toyota van. In 220,000 miles it has stranded Marilyn one time when she drove over a rock and wrecked a tire. She was 15 miles from home so Jims tire service came to the rescue. I know its different when you are on the road in strange country far from home but the chances of a sudden flat are quite small.

It seems strange but many newer vehicles don't come with spare tires or tools to change one, it simply was omitted to offer more "usable" interior space.

It's becoming another component on a vehicle that will disappear soon, because nobody uses them, or knows how, just like manual transmissions. In today's world many people have AAA or competitor or have similar with their auto ins. Many people have this with full coverage, and probably don't know or realize they do. Most of them will change a flat, replace damaged tires, bring fuel, jump starts, lock-outs, towing and rental coverage.

Chevy Uplander mini van and its brand sisters had 6 lug donut spares. Unsure if the lug pattern is the same, but gm rarely actually designs anything new, they just put lipstick on a pig.

Tire reliability and quality have come a long way since the 1950's. On top of that many cars come with run flat tires now.

In 17 years over two trucks I have only pulled the spare out once, and that was for convenience, not out of necessity. I could have taken the whole truck to the tire shop to repair the TPMS valve stem, but I put on the spare so I could drop the leaky tire off and come back for it at my leisure. Free repair by the way.

However you are dead wrong on it being omitted for more usable interior space. The spot for the spare tire and tools are STILL THERE. They don't come with them to save on cost. It's optional equipment now. Maybe some day in the future it will be eliminated but the car will either come with no-air tires or lifetime roadside assistance.

Oh and in regards to manual transmissions, it was because nobody WANTED them. Well, more correctly, not enough people wanted them to make it economically viable to keep offering them.

Many fantastic suggestions made by several.

And flattening an old tire is your latest solution?? Really??

After a thousand edollars in new tires!

Good luck.

Eliminating the spare tire and tools not only saves manufacturing cost, it also makes the vehicle price more competitive, reduces vehicle weight, and increases fuel economy. Manufacturers like the idea of easily shedding 40 to 75 pounds and $100 to $200 or more from their vehicles.

Looking back, it has now been 39 years since the last time I had to change a tire while on the road. I have not used a spare tire since then because a 12 volt air compressor has always been enough to get me to a tire shop.

I guess you could compare eliminating the spare tire on vehicles with no longer requiring oil changes on small consumer grade lawnmowers, if 75 percent or more or your customers will never do it, why pretend they will?

I just fixed the tire on a 2014 Acadia SLT it had a 6 lug 17" spare I think that was a GM standard. The regular tires were 255/60/19.
I wrote the size of the spare down before I put it back under the car but can not find it.

The hander bolted to the underside.
