On the first picture of the Case 300 and mounted plow what is the purpose of the remote cylinder coming from 3rd. link to plow frame? Is the 3rd. link arm not adjustable? Once plow is adjusted for running level why would you ever want to adjust it from tractor seat?
 
The hydraulic cylinder is essentially a hydraulic toplink. It controls the angle of attack (pitch) of the plow and thus the depth. Eagle hitch tractors did not use draft control (this function was not available until Case released the Draft-O-Matic tractors)

You would adjust your hydraulic mast as you went through the field for varying conditions/soils. The manual/advertising also states that it helps in rapid penetration in hard grounds and at headlands.

I use this very same setup in plowing competitions and like it.
