always challenges

We have about four inches of fresh snow we had to clean off the bunk before we could mix a batch to feed the heifers.
Got all the silage and grain in the vertical mixer and it suddenly made a loud clunking noise.

Not a good photo as it was dark under the mixer. The welds came loose where the gear box is welded to the bottom of the mixer and the input shaft is broke off. We thought about tipping it up side down to empty it out, but decided to fork it out instead. It only took us about half an hour. We need to borrow one for a couple of days.

My neighbors needed a replacement and they found a little used one for sale. They tried it out for over two years before they decided that they didn't like it.
