post a pic of where that rod goes to would be more help. gas or diesel? some thing with the fuel?

The previous posters have this covered for you, but you REALLY need an Operator's Manual to familiarize yourself with the tractor.

You can download OMR2035 for FREE (in .pdf version) at the official DEERE link below.

Enter the Model Number, then scroll down, I found OMR2035 on page 2 of the search results.

My cousins' 60 had one of those on a gas tractor. It went right to the sediment bowl shutoff. I remember he cranked it closed every time he shut down.

Take a look at the [b:654c4848f0]FUEL FILTER AND FUEL PIPES (All-Fuel)[/b:654c4848f0] diagram below.

Note the fuel control rod (Key 7).

Take a look at the information below.

Hope this helps.

Your John Deere 70 was or is a all-fuel tractor.. That lever is to control the flow of gas and fuel and to turn all off.. On your tractor it is located on the lower right side on the gear-shift housing..

(quoted from post at 11:05:07 01/23/22) Thank you all very much I think I got it figured out now, the owners manual makes a big difference.

Should be a big fuel tank and a small gasoline tank.
My dad just put gas in the big tank.
