TV show Green Acres tractors

So it's been posted here before about the tractors on Green Acres and mentioned were Farmall M, GP john Deere, Hoyt Clagwell and Mr. Ziffels new 6000 Ford equipped with cab. Well last night on the show the neighbors had a plowing bee for the Douglas's because Mr. Drucker couldn't get a plow in time for Mr. Douglas to make the planting season. Several came to the farm for lunch and there must have been 6 or 8 or more various models of Fords parked in the front yard. After that they had a scene out in the fields and there working was either a John Deere A or B styled and a Caterpillar track tractor. It was fascinating to see so many different Ford models.

Ford provided vehicles and most likely the tractors as it got a promotional mention during the credits. The opening sequence involving the JD GP must have been done before that was set up. I found it interesting that the GP was allowed to stand while the Hoyt-Clagwell aka Fordson was not seen in every episode and was a running joke in terms of being unreliable. I remember reading a long time ago that the television networks more or less fought inadvertent promotion of products including farm equipment. During the 1970's it seemed every time a tractor appeared the name plate and ID number were pulled off with limited exception. On the show Mayberry RFD an IH 656 is shown unaltered but a poor view of identifiers.

Also interesting was that none of those Fords had a plowed hitched to them. They were probably pulled off of the lot of a LA area Ford Ag dealer that most likely did not sell many plows never mind stock any.

Is that the AC family down in Alabama? They used to be big AC folks even had a pickup they had transplanted an ac engine into. Also were real big in tractor pulling back in the 70s. Absolutely first class folks. Haven't heard from them in years.

i remember his first tractor was a fordson with a red engine in the first episodes. i think he traded it for the john deere later on

We had folks in the neighborhood with the sir name Haney . And the Old Haney place was a tough piece of ground. Either gravel hills or swamp, with very few places you could park a 4 wheel wagon without it running away

Son and I went to a pull in Tanner, Al in 2018. Haneys had several tractors there. They still show up on some Mid South Pullers on youtube.

it was definately a Ford show as all the cars and the few tractors you saw were Fords other than the JD in the opening. There was one episode where they ended up with a bunch of new Ford tractors at the Douglas place but it wasn't the plowing contest episode. I always felt bad for Oliver. he always got the raw end of the deal especially when Lisa bought him a new tractor (Ford 6000) and hid it at Ziffles and Mr Ziffle thought it was his and they didn't have the heart to take it back

the Beverly hill billies was an all Chrysler show with lots of Chryslers, Dodges, Plymouths and Imperials on the show.

Hawaii 5-O was a Ford show with many Mercurys which I always thought was weird that the detectives could drive a high end Ford/Low end Lincoln.

Charlies angles was a Ford show. Dukes of hazard was a mix but favored Chryslers a bit. James Bond live and let die was heavy Chevy and Caddy's and their Diamonds are forever had a lot of Fords. The Man with the Golden gun had alot of AMC which was unusual.

When I get on my Fordson and go parading at the shows Ive attended ,the old timers say I look like Oliver, and they laugh
What do you think ?

I saw the picture before I read the text, and that was my exact thought, "Is he TRYING to look like the guy from Green Acres?"

Third generation I am sure, the guy I knew 40 years ago was already in his 60s . Was a tough puller and latter on his son . They have the AC experience for sure.
