Misty's Lesson Number Two

Thanks for the comments on her first lesson. I do not do videos as how to instructions. I just share where I get joy from these miniature horses. I enjoy setting in a shelter while they eat in the cold making sure one does keep another one from getting its portion of feed. I wish I could still be sharing pictures of working on tractors as I did in the past. All comments plus or minus are welcome.

Your relationship with that little mare is a beautiful thing to watch. It can be a joy to spend time with a horse you have a friendship with.

Dad worked with big horses when he was young. (born in 1915) When he got older and slowed down on farming he bought 2 miniatures. He found a Studebaker wagon the right size and had harness made. When he would rattle the harness those horses would fall in line, even before he tried training them. We tried switching sides one time and they both laid down. We switched the harness to the other side and they got up and got ready to go.
Dad had a bad heart attack in his 80's and the doctors told us he probably would not make it another 2-3 days. We left pictures of his horses on his bed table and went home. When we came in the next morning dad was sitting up and telling the doctor all about his girls. Doctor said those horse pictures reminded him he had something to live for. He lived to 90 years, 6 months, and 13 days. Then he refused to eat or take his medicine, just quit wanting to live.
If I can find my pictures I will post them.

Thanks! I love your story! It tells how important it is to have something that makes you have a loving obligation that brings your mind to life each and every morning. Horses was your Dads inspiration as well as mine. It can be many other (positive) things. I feel sad for those that have not found theirs. I would love to see the pictures.

Misty looked a bit calmer today than during her first lesson. Having an idea of what to expect this time, plus your firm but gentle handling seems to going well.

Thats a very nice little horse you have . A horse needs a leader and if you wont do it he will thats how you end up with spoiled rotten dangerous horses . Looks like you are doing a perfect job .
