What does it cost where you live

Charged $45 per hour last year. Everyone I asked said I was way too low.
$70 per hour this year.

Ford 7710 w/ 3pt blade and a rock saver on the cutting edge.

i have plowed commercial lots for 30 years i gave it up 2 years ago, i was getting $100 an hour usually i ran for 10 hours straight we really havent had any plowable snow here for 3 years, but if i was to start up again today it would be $120 an hour, still have 2 plow trucks but still no snow in s.e mi.

sorry we dont do driveways, but when i did get roped into a few of them $25 for 50 ft. pull it out to the road and push it to the side with a pick up, with the tractor i have to get $35

I'm in south-central Michigan (Moscow area), about 500' off the road; a single pass up the driveway would cost $50.
If I add to that clearing a parking/turnaround area and widening the driveway with a 2nd pass on the way out so it doesn't drift shut as easily, $150 total.

A couple years ago I picked up a 1976 Dodge M880. It was a retired plow truck from the local school district. I'd have to check the paperwork but it was I believe back in 1992 that the school purchased it from Selfridge Air National Guard base up by Lake Saint Claire. I do like those old Dodges, so now it just costs me a bit of gas to clear the driveway. :)

I have been here five years now and have only seen a dusting of snow in the top of the mountains one time. I don't think that there would be a snow plow in this whole valley of several million people. Thirty miles west of Phoenix about half way up the White Tank Mountains.

Son does snow removal when it snows and gets $300.00 per hour with 3 hour min. Has enough contracts that they don't want any more.

I just plow a few driveways for the neighbors not trying to buy the nnalert towers or anything. The ones that pay almost make up for the ones I do for free .

20 years ago, when we still lived on our first farm, I charged $60.00/ hour from the time I left home, till I finished the driveway. I didnt really want the work all that much, so only those that had long farm lanes that needed a tractor snowblower to clean them out called me. When the wind blows in a snow year, you can go to some driveways everyday. One guy rented a old farm house with a long lane and was complaining about the cost , and having me every other day. I told him to just park at the end and walk in, well you would have thought I insulted him, lol.

Before I had a tractor, my neighbor charged me $10 per driveway. It took him about 10 minutes per direway. He used a 4 wheeler with a snow blade.

No one pays me a dime. I just do it to be a good neighbor.
I do 10 driveways in about an hour. Use less than a gallon of fuel. I'm happy to do it. It's the only tractor therapy I get in the winter. One snow last year, which was the first snow in 5 years.

I'm like the lonely Maytag repairman, no snow to plow!!

About an hour of my time...

I will, if asked, do some blowing for others, usually when the truck plows have run out of room to stack snow. That goes for $50/hr.

In the event we get enough snow i usually yell them done worry about it. It's only a few minutes of my time. Most will pay me anyway or better yet drop of cookies or something later.

I do a guys driveway and side walks with a 5 hp MTD snowblower. It takes me a half hour. I get $35. Snow removal services charge more than that where i live.

I have no idea on the price in my area..We get so little snow here these days that I haven't had to plow my driveway in years..This past Thursday we had from 1/2 to 1 inch of dry snow and in town all the pickups with blades were out plowing...It was almost comical.

I paid my uncle $200 to come work on my driveway with a skid steer last winter. Several badly drifted spots, some was bare. It took maybe a hour and he lives next door.

Here in southern N.H. I'm being told by the plow guys they are getting $40.minimum for a simple driveway.I have been plowing driveways since 1976,but I am behind the times because I don't take on any new ones.A few years ago I had some $50-$75. dollar ones, but they were hard ones.700 feet through the woods,900 feet through an open field but up a hill,Circular and S shaped driveways with bush and stone lined gardens in them.Last year I lost the last of my 1976 customers, both of them died.Another one that I have been plowing since 1987 said she needed me to get there earlier.(she took on a fussy tenant)I can't do it,I have elderly emergency prone people that have to be catered to first. She thought I would get mad if she found somebody else.I told her it would be the best Christmas present she could give me.Terrible, tight, labor intensive driveway,I only did it because they are lifelong family friends.

All it costs me to keep my half mile driveway clear is the diesel fuel and that JD 2140 is pretty easy on it. The machinery is all paid for long ago and I work for free for myself.

For me it is Free, because I do it myself. I have 3 pickups with plows on, A 5 yard dump truck and plow, 2 skid steers and a couple tractors with loaders. I do some of the plowing, or my sons, or my shop guys. Yeah, Free. LOL

Been a long time since i did the lets go plow snow , but back when i was doing it 10-25 depending on the drive , framers lanes Could get pricey when i had some pretty good drifts to get thru . Normal drives straight in and out with no hand shoveling do the pull in back blade away from the garage doors and a couple shoves and gone 10 longer wider 20 -25 . And usually i had four to ten drives all in a row even on the big storms they were easy money and not running once i got there . I had several drives that had to be done before 6 Am , one was the superintendent of the schools one was a MFG. Plant manager and one was the Owner of the Ford dealership The Superintendent was sort a nut case as he had to personally go drive all the bus routes to see if they would have school or not , he would be standing in the door way waiting on me , if it was really nasty out i would tell him just go back to bed as i don't have time to come get you off 10th S.t ext hill as i had in the past as we all had the old fashioned C/B's and the buses were all on Ch.4 and the one local big towing company also used that channel . I based the hourly rate at 100 Bucks and hour and doing driveways if done right you went over that . BUT back then a well built plow truck was around 10-12 grand not the 60K plus of today either and that does not even figure in your insurance cost , they can really ding you . And ya got to figure in repair costs .

I dont charge the neighbors. I get them when I can. Sometimes I get cookies, gift cards or similar. One is elderly widow, others are country residents without equip to do the job. I use my 4430 with loader. I do my own (2) drives and barnyards then start the neighborhood circuit. I usually do 6-7 within two miles of me. To get everyone done is a good half day if snow is heavy

PU with snow blades, they charge $35.00 for our 1/4 mile lane. Push going in and a push going out. It takes me longer to get dress than it takes them to push the lane.

I started plowing for 3 neighbors that share a common drive (I have an easement to use the 20' closest to the highway) (first times I was using a 12 HP craftsman mower with blower 24 drifts after major snow storm early 90's, no charge neighbor was in chemo and needed out)
the following year they asked me to plow and they offered to pay, First 3 pay what they think is fair. they pay same if 1 inch or 12 inches (all asphault or cement, except for 1 that has gravel drive. (I started keeping records in 2008 and pay about $20 each for the common drive (1/4 mile long) and extra for each of their individual drives $5 for one garage drive to $25 for one drive (down hill and back up and 2 stub drives for garages (long). over time the 25 crept to 45 the 5 has added another drive twice as big but still pays 30 total. 3 years ago a mc-mansion was built doubling the area I plowed, First 3 pay what they want, newest i charged 120 each time (they never batted an eye at that price. longish hill very big flat area, triple garage turn around circle and down hill to pole barn)
I Move snow 4-12 times each winter since at least since 1994. It has paid for 2 JD 1145 mowers (1 with cab) and blade, broom, blower,
I grew up on dairy farm and getting out to move snow is still fun...

Only snowed here in Ca where I live, in 1968. I will stick to mowing weeds, that's where the money is, for now. Stan

For close neighbors its all free for me to plow snow off their drive ways with the 4WD Oliver 1365.Went and moved some round bales today for a neighbor that has some steers but no tractor,he was ready to pay couldn't believe I didn't charge him. It'd be different if I needed the money but these days good will means more to me than a few dollar$.

(quoted from post at 12:02:32 01/09/22) In the event we get enough snow i usually yell them done worry about it. It's only a few minutes of my time. Most will pay me anyway or better yet drop of cookies or something later.

4520BW, you're a good neighbor. That's a stout looking JD, really like those, bet it really clears the snow. What year is your tractor?

I work for free as well. Id like to get a blower but really only
get the snow to need one about every 5 years
