An old friend of mine did just like that to a grinder mixer when the chunks of small squares bales weren't feeding in right. Instead of finding a 2X4 or stick he took the time to stack some bales up to stand
on while he kicked the chucks in the hammermill. He lost his left leg below the knee. Luckily he lived close to town and his wife's cousin heard the call and made it out to the farm before the rescue unit.
Thought he lost his leg in a war and never asked till one night after a few brews he told me the story. Farmed for 40 years after that. Though he was hard on clutches with that leg, took the thrush shoulder
off of his oliver tractor crankshaft when I rebuilt the engine for him. A lot of people didn't care for him but we got along just fine. One Xmas Dad was behind combining his corn, Jim cut the fence and helped
Dad finish so he could spend it with us kids and relax. RIP Jim.
