Any thoughts on this one? It's fairly cheap.....

Kevin, my oldest brother bought one of the Satoh Beaver model tractors about 15 years ago and when it broke down he hunted for 2 months to get repair parts for the engine. After he finally got it back running, one night someone stole it and he said that was the best thing that ever happened to it. Trying to get parts for it was a nightmare.

The statement it needs to be put back in time sounds like you may need a time machine to fix it, so unless you have one of those I would pass.

Looks small. Probably wont carry many fencing supplies and such. What about a used loader for one of the fords? They pop up on MarketPlace every so often.

Run away, Forrest. Run away fast. I don't think that I have seen a running Satoh since 1980.

It looks like the cylinders are dual acting.
Good news the end of cylinder is not subject to
water getting the end like the ford cylinder you
posted earlier.

Bad news about all loaders.
If you lift 1000# a good chance you will be putting 2000# on the front axle because you are removing weight from the rear tires.

No tire ballast will fix that problem. You will need a rear ballast. The farther back from rear tires the better.

The loader looks good.

Be nice if you can put the loader on a Ford. Never heard of the tractor.

What do you need a loader for?
If you want to move sand, OK. perhaps a few hundred pounds. The front tires and front axle don't look that beefy.

Not sure how high the loader will go and how much it can lift.

The size of the unit looks like you would have limited use for the tractor.

I think the boom on your ford will be better for unloading your trailer when you bring home attachments. Boom can reach over your trailer, this loader can't.

Looks kinda small. Dont think Id buy an off brand like that especially needing work. I take it you passed on that Massey loader tractor ?

Satoh made some really neat model airplane engines in the 80s but I could not afford one, but wanted one. I would take one a product of theirs in a minute as long as it fit in a box I could put on a desk. Other than that, not so much.

I believe that was a totally different outfit 48Case ... spelled 'Saito'. See the link below. The guy selling the tractor got his spelling wrong, a good try but wrong. Our club has a Satoh 650G gas tractor, bigger than the Beaver which is for sale. A good little tractor, a bit smaller than a 9N. It has a 1000cc Australian Mazda truck engine (truck was called a Boolabong or some such name). Tune up parts still available from NAPA and there are a few guys in the US that still have some parts but obviously, it could be an issue.

There is one just like it sitting in my neighbors front yard. Water pump went out years ago. He couldn't find one. Took the pump to NAPA machine shop. The bill was so high he left the pump there. That's been a good 15 years now. His wife is gone and he is in the nursing home.

Before I would even think about that one I would first do a part find check. If you can find parts then maybe but if not able to find parts run and run very fast. LOL

That Beaver is just a garden tractor about size of a Cub Cadet. And I don't ever remember seeing one. Now the better tractor was the650-G that was a 4 cylinder gas tractor with about same horsepower as a 9-2N Ford but about the size of your Farmal Cubs. They used a 10-24 or 28 rear tire, forget for sure. They were a nice size for getting in small pens for loading out manure. But with the 5:00x15 tires not enough flotation for on soft material. Would have liked to have one of the 650-G when they came out. But no Beaver.

My neighbor had a shitoe bison. We called it a shitoe because he was always working the price of s$!t.

It depends on how much the seller is offering you to remove it from his life. If he's only giving $400, forget it. If he gets up to over $600, consider it and move the loader to another tractor, then salvage the rest for scrap metal value.

Buy it by the pound would be my advice Kevin. I have a Satoh. It has a 4 cylinder Mitsubishi 16 HP Diesel. Satoh was bought by Mitsubisi soon after mine was made.I have been using mine for about 10 years. Only part I have needed was a starter. E-Bay for that. I would listen to Old about the parts.

I have worked on one I had to tow it in I don't remember what I did to it. It a extra extra HD lawn tractor. They used it to mow with a 4 ft brush cutter. It was a pain to get on and off of its a tight fit.

I would think if it as a 1/4 scale ford 3000 2 cylinder.

Bought one just like it $300 and it didn't run. Fixed it and unloaded it for$3000.00. People are still using 5 years later. Check the oil and water. Blown head gaskets are common.
