John Deere 7020 and chisel plow size

Going to look at some plain chisel plows in the next few days. Was wanting people's opinions on whether a John Deere 7020 would pull a 10 shank chisel plow with just 2 inch straight points and rigid shanks. I know soil type and conditions play a big role. I have fairly flat land and river bottom soil (sand ridges with clay along the ditches and sleughs) in Southern Indiana. I try to size implements to not pull the guts out my tractors. For reference my grandpa and uncle pulled a 9 or 10 shank chem farm chisel with a 4630 deere or 1466 ih on the same ground about 9 to 10 inch deep

Thanks

Isnt that the model Duffy Ag is always working on in his YouTube channel? I enjoy his online diary.

Anyhow, about 150 hp, Id think 9 to 10 shank 2 inch would be perfect for it.

Speed and depth makes a huge difference. I can move the lever not even enough you can see it and it pulls easier

Roughly the same size horsepower wise, just better traction. Stay with the same size and maybe go a little faster.

i was pulling 14 ft deep tillage with a 14 ft disc in tandem with mine. i would say 18-20 ft would be ok , but yes soil depth and speed is the factor.

We pulled 12 ft. with a 4240. Straight shovels. Then we wanted a little better coverage so we put on twisted shovels. Couldn't pull it so took two shanks off. Ten foot pulled fine. I'm thinking you should do well with 16 ft.

Is it not about 160 horse? If so I would think 10-12 would be a pretty good fit. That would be with 3 inch twisted shovels on it. We pull 16 with 3 inch twisted shovels on it with a 7140 or 4166 and even use more power on it when we want to use the 7140 to plant. I would like to find a 20Ft with discs on the front to cut up trash better.

what year is your 7020? I'm not sure, but did some 7020s
have a 4620 engine, and some a 4630 engine? depending on the year of manufacturing?
maybe someone knows if that's true?

It is an early one something like the 30th one made. It has the roosa style pump on it. So would be the 4620 engine
