stihl battery chainsaws

I'm looking for recommendations for a stihl battery operated chainsaw for the farm. 16 inch bar would be long enough for my jobs. Are any of you running these that can tell me what model to get.

boberjagel,

I bought a stihl battery chainsaw a few years back. It is exactly what we wanted it for. It will cut larger wood, but that is not its forte.

We used it to limb, trim, cut, all without pull-roping a more powerful chainsaw every time we need it.

I will have to check the model when things warm up. We like our chainsaw.

D.

I usually process firewood from oversize logs that nobody wants, so a battery chainsaw would be useless, but there is a discussion on the tool talk forum discussing that topic

Can't help with the chainsaw question, but I looked into a Stihl battery weed wacker last spring.

Even the Stihl dealer steered me away from them because of the insanely high price!

I like Stihl, believe in their product, but there is a limit!

We have an MSA 200 C. I'm pretty picky about equipment and this saw has performed beyond my expectations. We've had it about 4 years. We do orchard pruning and the charge will usually last 1/2 a day, sometimes all day. Saw, battery & charger are high quality. There are battery and charger options. The setup we have will charge a battery in 30-40 minutes. We have two batteries so when the guys come in for lunch, they can swap out a battery and charge the other.

I have a 58 volt Echo. It will saw my Gator one ricke as high as you can stack it on a charge. We are saying pecan it's pretty hard. But my neighbor has the biggest Stihl electric saw. He has had it for 3 or 4 yrs. He loves it because it always starts. 4 or 5 people use it. He would never go back to gas.

The problem with any battery powered tool, the tool will outlast the battery. Then you find out how much the battery costs, you may pitch the tool.
I have many battery tools of different brands, and all use the same battery, 20v dewalt and an adapter.
I wouldn't attempt to cut a log with my 20v dewalt saw.
Does a good job on the small stuff. 5 to 6 inch max. I sharpen the chain before using.

Footnote, a man found out his 2013 Tesla battery was going to cost $22000. He bought 76 pounds of dynamite and blew the car up. Google it. NO miss print, $22K.

The material that goes into a Tesla battery is the same that is used in many cordless batteries . Lithium.

We just finished pruning the last 6 rows of blueberries. I say we but my wife finished, I was tired. We used a Stihl electric MSA-140-C, with the AK-30 battery. She pruned the last 2 - 3 rows by herself, no problem. It was expensive, but I traded in a Stihl Farm Boss 0-29 for it. Battery started out with 4 green lights, we ran it down to 2 green lights. Very pleased.

Someday, I may afford that,but still running an Homelite Super2, a 290, a 240, and putting back a 925xp together

Kids got me a 16 Dewalt 60V saw for christmas. Haven't run it yet, but I hope it's good enough that they will do all the woodcutting and trimming.
