New Year's Resolution - Tractor related

What is everybody planning to do for the coming year in terms of collecting or buying to use? Me? I am going to be flexible and let the best value come to me. Thinking about a JD in the 50-60 HP category to take the 4010 off of spraying duty. I thought I had something figured out last winter but got a little leery about a couple of things on a tractor I was looking at then nothing else came along. Might be the year that I finally realize my dream of a JD 630. Too early to tell.

I sold the 4020 and am looking at replacing it with a newer, cab tractor. I sold the AC 175D, and am thinking about retiring the 2520 from planting duty, and putting the bush hog from the 175 onto it. But I'm also thinking if someone wants to give me lots of money for the 2520 I would replace it with a smaller, cheaper tractor. I have a New Holland TT60A which works well for mowing, and I wouldn't mind another one just like it. I bought a CaseIH 1225 liquid planter. The JD 1750 will be for sale, (6 row dry).

I'm not sure where all the money is coming from to buy or build anything but I'm not planning on adding anything to my fleet. If next year is anything like this one then just scraping by will make me happy.

I recently bought a couple project tractors.

Just got one of the 770 that I bought about 18 months ago back together with new pistons and liners. Fixed the power booster clutch and now working on getting lights and little things back in order.

Got another 770 after dad accidentally ordered two piston and sleeve sets and didn't get one returned in time so I had to buy a tractor to put them in. Found a nice 770 wide front with a stuck motor. It's going to Dad's this week and he's going to do the engine work on this one too. This is the straightest old tractor I've ever laid eyes on so really hoping no other surprises.

Have an 88 gas that I bought with a stuck motor. Got it unstuck with not much fussing and was running later that day with a new condenser and cleaned points. Need a fuel tank for it, not sure how it go so much CRUD in the tank but it's not coming clean either, big chunks of fuel vanish coming out. This one has a custom farmer paint job to look like an 880. I'll probably just get it back together and use it.

Super 88 Diesel that came as a package deal with 88 gas. This one was all apart scattered from h#ll to breakfast but almost all there. Injection pump was off and injectors out but had been in a shed for 30 years. Lifting chain on engine long block so it was either on it's way out or way back in. After taking the head off I found new pistons and liners and the cranks been ground with new bearings. This one will take some work to get everything cleaned back up and re-assembled but will make a nice tractor when done. It might get stripped and painted since it's down as far as it is.

1650 Oliver is stripped down in my shop, pretty much everything cleaned up and ready for paint, ran out of time this fall so will be a top project in the spring.

I'm resolving to not make resolutions, especially about tractors or implements and the funds needed to make them as good as I'd like to. I find just keeping up with what goes wrong with them when you rely on them for regular work is costly enough.

On the other hand, it's really, really hard to pass up a really good deal, especially on some piece that would be *ehem* more useful on the farm.

Stopped out to the local 'red' dealer today to pick up a few hundred in parts, and couldn't help but walk through the used lot.

Best line I've heard regarding the collection and fixing of old equipment:
Even if money was no object, the other half would still object.

Keep my Massey loader tractor going. It doesnt owe me anything but it could use a few new hydraulic hoses. Theyre cheaper than buying another tractor.

Already bought some nickel and dime stuff augers and will be working on things for next year. Could use a bigger bean planter for future years. Not sure what to go with but need at least 30 foot wide and 40 would be better. Looking at a White planter with 10 inch rows could be left as is to plant, or modify to a different frame, and then widen while at it. Would have almost enough openers/row units to do it.

I don't have any plans of adding to the fleet. If anything I should sell a couple that I never use.
Biggest thing I can see needing now is a new bucket cylinder for the front end loader on the MF Super 90. It leaks oil all over the floor parked in the shed even though it works fine otherwise. Have had it to a hydraulic shop once or twice for seals but they don't seem to last.

Love the 3020 for spraying and it does big jobs too . The baler weighs 9600 pounds empty

Mine is don't forget to eat my Blackeyed Peas on NYD. Tradition I have had all my life since my mother instructed me to do so.....if you have them for NYD you will have them all year long...meaning you will be able to feed yourself...financially able. Haven't missed a year although recently I forgot one year and remembered late in the day and had to run to the grocery store and get a couple of cans.

My New Year's Tractor resolution is to buy another tractor only after I've sold two older ones. Sold one recently but just can't seem to sell the 1954 I've listed for half a year.
