Thoughts on Titan brand tractor tires

I don't know what they are now. I have a pair of 14.9x28 on a tractor and they are fine. Same as the old Armstrong tread. They are soft rubber- good traction- not going to last long with hard use on the road. I remember the Armstrongs would not tolerate being run soft. If the sidewalls are buckling, they will crack. These are bias that I am talking about.

Short bar-Long bar makes for a little bit of a choppy ride while transporting. Not noticable at road speed or field working speed.

These are not an agricultural tire but a Titan Tractor ride tire.

With the center rib they wear extremely well on pavement!

Years ago they were a pretty good tire. I have three tractors with the radial design and they will be going into their 20th year this coming spring. What they are today I could not tell you in terms of quality.

I think they have cut down a little bit on their participation, but a few years ago Titan gave my son a set of those tires just because my son was in FFA. All he had to do was have his instructor fill out the paperwork. They even threw in the tubes. A good company, as far as Im concerned.

Put a set on my 2-105 3 or 4 years ago and I like them fine. Pull well, ride good and seem to be wearing OK. I've always liked Firestone but the last set I got for another tractor got stubble punctures twice right after I put them on. Evidently they were really fresh and soft. After the first spring they have been fine. No problem with punctures on the Titan's and they were cheaper.

My 6530 Branson came with Titans back in 2007. My opinion is that they don't use a lot of plasticizers and the tires crack as a result. As a matter of fact I had the fronts replaced, on a new tractor before I would buy it. However, without plasticizers, the rubber compound is tough. I am still with 80% rubber on the front and 90% on the back. fronts are cracked worse around the end of the lug but other than cosmetics, no problems over the years. So if your eyeballs can stand it, I'd say they are tough tires.

On their turfs, don't expect a soft ride. I bought a pair of rear turfs in 16.5 wheel diameter on new a 25 hp tractor and I could drive around without any air in them. Really expected a soft sidewall like you get with an R1 tire but nope and were 4pr. May be that since the 16.5 is an industrial wheel size, they were stiffened for industrial applications...that just occurred to me.

What does transporting mean vs at road speed?

I have a set of 15.5 x 38 Titans on my Farmall M tractor. They have a more aggressive lug than my Firestone tires do. They have held up very well and I would buy them again. They run well in road gear, but in 3rd and 4th gear on the road they wiggle back and forth sideways a little and it makes the steering column jiggle. This isn't really much of an issue. Ellis

I have a set that are over 20 years old now and are doing very well. They have nice deep lugs. I keep my tractor out of the sun when not in use and so far no cracking.

We've got a set on a 7140 fronts and insides all radials work fine for what that tractor does. Planter and grain cart. Though we did pull chisel plow with it last year pulled it fine with 16 teeth in cornstalks. bean ground and wheat stubble.

On the grain cart we have a pair one radial and one bias. The radial is about twice the load rating of the bias tire. Found that out when we needed it this fall. I had bought the radial last winter new setting for a big discount since they had not sold it after it was ordered in for a guy. Something like 13,800 versus 8300 for the bias tire both same 12 ply and 24.5-32 size.
