Rang the bell at the red kettle for the Salvation Army again this year but not until after Thanksgiving for harvest was slow because of down corn and Sons' combine cast its withers and had to wait for parts with 20 acres left. Only rang 8 nights this year but my Daughter sent me a pic. of my youngest Granddaughter ringing at Charles City where they live and am proud of her--She was 5 in October. Merry Christmas to all!---Tee

Grandma and Grandpa are proud!

Countless numbers of the less fortunate benefit from the Salvation Army every day of the year. My hat is off to them and to those they serve ...... a special Merry Christmas to all and to those that support that fine organization, including your lovely granddaughter.

Tee,

Congratulations and commendations to you for your service. I've never had any direct dealings with the Salvation Army, but I know their history and I greatly respect their work.

Merry Christmas,

Tom in TN

The Salvation Army is one of two charities I'll support.

The other is the Marine Corps' Toys for Tots program.

For me, an essential part of Christmas is putting something in those kettles. Thank you for making someone's Christmas.

Big Tee. I do know her kindness is from her beautiful little heart and soul. I thought the SA paid adults. Did they give your granddaughter compensation? Thank you for posting. Very heart warming. Wingnut

In the larger cities they have trouble finding volunteers so ringers are paid but our town of 6000 there are enough volunteers. I really enjoy it-I give candy canes away and believe it or not I sing Christmas songs to the customers and they must like it for my boss said I set the all time high one day total last year--I don't know how much but it made me feel good!--Thanks---Tee

Here is the other pic my daughter sent--It has my Son in-law in it...

We are not told how much we raise but two years ago a lady that works a second job making pizzas at a connivance store was a recipient of some of the SA monies and wanted to talk to a ringer so My boss sent me down--You talk about a tear jerker! Ya get that warm fuzzy feeling---Tee

I don't encounter the bell ringers that often, and when I do I don't always have a lot of cash on hand. But I do send them a check at least once a year, sometimes more.

They were at the bus stop when we shipped off to boot camp, they were the last folks with bibles and coffee when we shipped off to Vietnam and the first folks that met us when we landed back in California. When the son's home burnt down they were there about the same time the fire trucks got there. Amazing people!

Didnt see many ringers this year. I break a $20 into $1s and put a few in each bucket I pass until they are gone.

Tee, ever think they were putting the money in hoping that you would stop singing? LOL!!! Just a thought.

That has been mentioned more than once--Or--Can I sing-Far Far Away--Or Over The Mountain-and there are more. It is said in the Bible--Sing A Joyful Noise Onto The Lord!!!--And I do it---Tee
