Actually three John Deere D tractors coming up for auction in Sask. next spring. Plus one for parts. Much like the tractor my dad farmed with through the 1950s.

JDs at auction

I think the model D was the longest run with of single model designation JD ever did. For IH, believe it or not the longest run with a single model designation was the Cub. (1947 to 1974.)

I think the D designation was used about 30 years ending in 1953. Although I think the last ones built were quite a change from the first ones unstyled on steel.
This was my dad with his D about 1950. Uncle Sandy had the Cockshutt 30.

If the marketing department JD has today existed back
then the D would have at least three model destination
changes. There was three hp increases and 2 major
redesigns or modifications.

I would love to own a D someday but a thousand miles from Iowa is a bit far to go. And none of them runs the way it looks. I went past that town one time hauling a combine on my way past Regina to the Yorkton area. I crossed the border at Scobey MT. I would love to get back in that area someday. I could stop in for a visit.

That's a great picture. Spent many hrs. on a D's & R's, still have a couple of each. My '53
R will still be here when I'm long gone.

An old friend still has his dad's D which is almost identical the one my dad had. I keep hinting that he should restore it to running condition. At least it is in secure and dry storage for now. I told him he should buy these old parts tractors for spares.
