Pallet Fork Question

Why do most pallet forks come in black? Most all equipment attachments are the color of the tractor. Land pride is associated with Kubota and is orange except for the pallet forks. John Deere = Green. New Holland = Blue. Massey = Red and so forth. I do not think it is associated with them being universal for several different equipment brands as you can use a grader blade or other implement on just about anything. Not that it really matters much at all but I have always wondered why the majority of them are black.

Higher visibility against a variety of backgrounds. Some are black oxide coated for surface abrasion resistance. Jim

Same reason auto electric shops paint all starters black when done. They are not interested in carrying everyone's color. would you?

My guess is the same reason most skid steer buckets, PHD motors, booms and most other attachments are black..

I always figured it was because black
paint is cheap and it covers well. Plus it
can be sloppily applied and the implement
looks decent from 10 feet away.

How many buy pallet forks from a dealer?
I bought mine from Amazon, Titian.
Much cheaper. Black is a universal color.
I don't worry about not being strong enough.

My Titian forks can handle more than the tractor can lift.
This antique brake is all my Kubota can handle.

I personally don't really care what color it is. Paint is cheap.
I like black, I'm cheap. So my forks will remain black.

You would be incorrect. It's most definitely about them being universal.

If the attachment manufacturers painted them in colors, they'd have all kinds of problems selling them. Nobody wants a red pallet fork for their green tractor, or a blue fork for their red tractor, or a green fork for their yellow tractor. If the dealer doesn't have the right color in stock, they lose a sale, and could end up stuck with an odd-colored attachment that they can't sell. When they're all black, it doesn't matter.

(quoted from post at 06:56:15 12/23/21) Doesnt seem like many understood the question.

Please enlighten us then. Seemed pretty straightforward to me:

"Why do most pallet forks come in black?"

They come in black because they are not brand-specific. They are universal. I'll go on to repeat that if you paint them in colors people won't buy them because they're the wrong color, and the dealers will end up with unsold stock because of that.

If you want a color matching pallet fork, you can buy one from the dealer that sold you the loader, or get a can of paint.

Like I said, you didnt understand or didnt read it carefully. He specified brand specific implements. Why are most Frontier implements green but pallet fork black. Land Pride implements are orange, but pallet forks are black. Etc... Everyone knows why many aftermarket implements are black.

Black because it is the cheapest pigment color made for all paints.

You want it to match your tractor??
That will be another 25% $$ and another 25% $$ for the tractor brand logo decal.
:D

Well, since they only keep their paint for not very long at all if you really use them, does it really matter?

I mean a black one with scratches on top and bottom will still probably look better than an orange or green one with scratches.
