Ford Jubilee

Yes.
Why change? It worked for lo these many years on 6 volt. They were always reliable starters,
that is, if everything were in good condition. Especially cables and grounds. Make sure everything
is clean and tight, and in good condition. You should be good for another 50.

No, it will raise it ,I converted mine , it starts better and even idles better, I can use the 12 volt battery in another tractor if I need to and I can use a sprayer with a 12 volt electric pump

Depends on what you consider to be value.

If this is a working tractor, and it's not reliable, it is of little value to you as is.

If it is a show tractor, and you want to keep it original, by all means do.

But unless it is museum quality, they don't hold a lot of monetary value. Pretty common, not a real collectors item.

The problem with keeping a generator system working is the quality of the aftermarket regulators. Back in the day, the regulator was closely matched with the generator, and had high quality alloys in the contacts. Not any more, they are fit-alls, built as economically as possible.

Keeping it 6 volt can be done, but everything has to be right. The biggest mistake is putting automotive cables on it. They will be too small. It takes size 0 to work properly. And everything else has to be right, a healthy engine, fresh starter, a well tuned ignition system, and a properly functioning carb and clean fuel system.

I did my side distributor '50 8N, completely original tractor with 1100 hrs, and my 850 with a Wagner loader, using kits from the site for the alt and brackets and then my own wiring. I kept all the original stuff from both tractors in case someone wanted to put it back someday. The 6V purists will howl, but they both start and charge so much better, the alts come in just off idle, and no more rowrowrow

I have a Jubilee.
They are not all that valuable.
I was happy to buy mine converted.
So in my case 12v is more desirable

I have 2 Jubilees one is 6 volt and can go to a show, but mows grass all summer. The other has a loader and is used and abused all year, it is 12 volt but with an original generator changed to 12 volt. Both tractors are used. You can convert to 12 and keep it looking original have your generator rebuilt 12 volt. Merry Christmas , joe

Lower the value as a "collectible"? Yes. If you consider them collectible.
As a worker, no, it would increase the value since you can use more
modern headlights, 12V attachments like a sprayer or salter.
It also makes them easier to swap batteries around and jump start.
