Bought a 1951 Avery V and after much work got it started but no oil pressure. I pulled the oil pump and it works fine. I checked the oil pressure valve and found a broken spring but also the cup above the spring is all the way in and stuck. Does anyone know a method or tool to remove the stuck cup. I tried a magnet but to no avail. I also need info on where I can purchase a spring and oil pan gasket. I appreciate any help that can be given in this matter.
Thanks,
WL

TractorData.com has the engine listed as a Hercules ZXB-3.
Knowing that could give you a wider range of possible sources for parts.

Put some air pressure into the oil galley where the oil pump bolts to the block. Use a rubber tipped blow-gun to get a tight seal and cup your hand or put a rag over the pressure relief port to catch that tiny piston!

You could also try threading in a tiny tap inside the piston where the spring would have seated. That would probably turn the piston in the bore loosening it and maybe grip it enough to pull it out.

Hercano Products in Canton (?) Ohio has Hercules parts

Somethings not right here, if the pressure regulating cup/valve is REALLY stuck "all the way in" and the oil pump is functional you would be observing EXCESSIVE oil pressure instead of "no oil pressure".

What's "The rest of the story"?

The info I have agrees with you. I also saw something in writing saying that there will be no oil pressure until the oil filter was filled. I'm not sure
how long it takes for the filter to fill up. I ran the engine for what I thought was sufficient to build pressure. I wasn't considering the fact of the
filter taking more than a few seconds to fill. The delay caused me to become concerned about the oil pump, so I shut it down and removed the pump to
check it. It pumps a full flow with pressure. I plan to install the pump, remove the piston and be sure it moves in the channel, and when I get the
parts, put it all back together and try again. I really appreciate your response.
