My buddy had a 8040 he picked up around 2000 with a bad engine. Found a damaged Gleaner combined, and bought the low hour combined engine reasonable. I think the greatest modification was to the exhaust and turbo, otherwise bolted right in , and had more hp too.

Leased an 8050 back when they first came out, never had a complaint. More HP than we actually needed.

Allis was having problems with worn tooling near the end which caused issues. There should have been a new series of engines designed for the 8000s but the money wasn't there to do it. I've seen 8000s repowered with Cummins engines.

One came into the dealership with a cummins transplanted in it . Hardest shifting sob I ever drove it would about lift the front tires shifting . I guess if theyve made it 40 years without blowing up they might be ok now ??
