here is a pic of my 1942 m. it was a ww2 lottery tractor that my neighbor got. he was fighting in germany when his name was drawn. it was a distillate
tractor. i have the original bill of sale for it, 1200 dollars.

the decals should say mccormick deering, but this was the ones i has. i may repaint and correct decal some day. just posted a tractor pic for those
interested.

Nice piece of history. Thanks for sharing. The lighting is great. Is that just from a flash or is there another light set up? Fiber pulley or metal pulley? Is that a corn picker at the left front of the photo?

Looks pretty good! Heres a picture of our 1939 M with the same issue you have, wrong decals! Your paint doesnt look bad. I have wondered if I could just replace the decal. Might be hard to get all of the old one off without messing up the paint. I think Ill leave well enough alone!

nice unit, and the price! i remember my dad saying our neighbor bought a w6 new in 1949 and believe he said around 1300.00 for it. i have that tractor.

My Dad's 2nd tractor (after an H) was a 42 M. I road that in the fields for years! Don't remember any McCormick decal ? Ours looked just like this picture. then in 1962 while I was away in the USAF, a barn burned down with our M in it. I cried..

One of the best tractors ever built. I remember my Dad inquiring about the price of one sometime after WWII (The Big One) but I don't remember the exact year. The price then would have been $1500. By 1952, the price had climbed to about $2600.

Why would you want to repaint it and put on new decals? I must ask, someone has already painted it since new and put the wrong decals on right? Just leave it as is .... part of its own story I would say.

i restored and repainted the tractor for the original owner. on my dime. he was not in the best health and always wanted to fix this up.he was not aware that i took the tractor to my shop and rebuilt it. i gave him back the tractor and he was elated. several years later he passed away and the family gave me the tractor. they were neighbors. btw, at the funeral, we found out he was in a glider on d day at normandy. he never spoke of his service in ww2 . i also own a body shop, so the repaint is no big deal.

no flash, just the shed door open. stack of pallets on the left, wheel barrow on the right,

above farmall the earlier tractors had mccormick deering in smaller letters. look at maple hunters website and you can see the decals

A week or two ago there was a discussion about removing decals from a truck door. I forget which YT forum is was in.

That's a beauty just as she sits. Are you sure you can ratchet down your painting to tractor level. LOL Those base coat/clear coats just don't look right. Apologies to all you shiny tractor guys.

Since you're talking about war time M's, when I was growing up, one of my buddies dad had a brown M. I was told that it was built during the war and red paint was unavailable, so it came with brown paint. Has anyone ever heard of this or were they pulling my leg??

i have a 53 super m that is the next project. motor is all done, new clutch ect. needs the back end gone thru then on to paint. i want to do the super m in a mazda soul red crystal tri coat. i really like the color here is a sample of it

Tex,
I've never seen fenders on Farmalls either. I have a C with no fenders.
On the dairy no fenders on our H and MD.
If you ever try getting on a Farmall you would understand why there's no fenders.
