If I were doing that I would add a tube
across the top and bottom to add strength.
I will be surprised if that holds up to
hard use.

I changed out a few thousand crossties with a
backhoe using a somewhat similar bucket,if your
teeth and receivers that the teeth are mounted to
hold up the weak spot will be just behind the
receiver.those side cutters/braces on the outside
will help greatly.I would not make it any longer if
your planning on modifying it.a longer bucket gives
more leverage but is weaker and I mean 2-3 inches
longer weakens it a lot.

That bucket is for a Sherman hoe that was built back in the fifties. It isn't light. Believe me the tractor this is on aint gonna hurt it. Pure ignorance would break the loader before the bucket.

That being said after contact is made with the
stump, use the ground as a fulcrum:put the bucket
on the ground and curl up thats where your power
is anyway

The bucket is fine, your plate is the weak
part. The tractor shown won't hurt the
bucket.

It's 1/2 inch thick. Same as on the skid steer breakers I ran for several years before I retired. That old bucket is 5/8. Thanks for the concern but I'll be ok.
