The engine used to start almost immediately but now it takes like 5 or 10 revolutions, but it runs good after it starts. Gas mileage is down too. from 28 down to 23.
Engine lite does not work so I checked the bulb and it is good. There is no voltage to the lite either with the key on and engine off or running.
Fuel pump pressure is 45 with engine running at idle and 55 with vacuum hose off of pressure regulator.
Any suggestions?

Sounds to me like you have a computer problem. Being a 1992, it would be OBD1 and not OBD2.

The 'check engine' light should illuminate when the key is on and engine not running. A prime cause of the problem you describe would be bad grounds or Vpwr (12 volts) not getting to a part of the computer. You should also have 5 volts B+ at most sensors.

A common cause of loss of economy is a failed O2 sensor. I've seen more than one bad O2 sensor drag the mileage down.

rlp in Co,

#1 02 sensor; #2 egr valve; #3 catalytic converter. How old are the spark plugs?

Guido.

Having no engine light indicates something is lacking from the computer.

Maybe reseating the connectors would help.

I hate getting involved in OBD1!

Have someone with an age-appropriate scan tool ask it where it hurts, no use to just blindly muck around, IMHO.

WOW,
A 30 year old car in the rust belt would have been retired years ago.
Lucky it still runs and the wheels haven't fallen off.

You should get rid of your old truck because it's lucky the wheels haven't rusted and fallen off. Hypocrite!
