Your so-called country music died with Ernst Tubb and that bunch. Non of these wannabees know what it is anymore nor what it came from. Loretta Lynn and that set were about the last to know where and what it came from. These new fools just think they know. Now what you guys all called rock and roll in the late 50's with buddy holly and is now so-called country music.

I have met her several times. Once in the beauty shop my mom worked in. Tanya was in there with her aunt.

I listen to alot of Texas Red Dirt country. It is closer to the old stuff than what is out now. I like a little of the new stuff but not much.

tanya tucker is one powerful lady. looks pretty darn good for 57 there. i saw her in concert when she was 19 years old in edmonton. she will be back this summer at the river cree for a show. puts her at 63 years old now i believe. a year younger than me. always liked her singing. her song was the first thing i thought of also when i read the post. i dont think i will make it to texas though.

haa, when the 8 tracks came out my first 2 i bought were buddie holy and olivia newton john, back in 1973. i also had loretta lynn too. that was good stuff.

Ive been a country fan all my life.

Music changes, runs through fads. If it never changed at all we wouldnt need any new recordings or artists, the same 100 albums from the 1950s would be top today still.....

Im not so happy with the urban hip hop influence on country the past decade. Just not my cup of tea. There is good country out there, in between the stuff I dont enjoy so much at this time.

It will swing around again some day to the country sounds I enjoy being mainstream again.

I am country, when country isnt cool. :)

Bruce. You are correct. I strongly suspect not too many new singers grew up on horses, riding then in hot dusty, cold windy or rainy days while working cattle. Bet not many were chased by mama cow when you get too close to baby calf. Get woke up in the middle of the night to put the cows back in that are on the highway because the sheriff just called.

dont forget our alberta country legend ian tyson lives on a ranch here in alberta west of calgary at longview. he has some really good songs. 88 years old. sings someday soon, 4 strong winds, navajo rug, 18 inches of rain , saddle bronc girl. he is a real cowboy!

I bet most of us can sing along and know the words to a hundred old country songs, but don't care, or know the words to 5 new country songs.
It is just repetitive 3 chord R&R with boring lyrics.

I bought every Olivia Newton John 8 track or album I could when I was in HS, quit when she did grease and went pop. I still have all the tapes and the one album. Downloaded a lot of her early stuff to I tunes.

Lots of goodies out there but Kenny's Gambler is real cute....I quote the phrases often when making decisions and having a hard time.
