OT 2009 ram 3500

this is my work truck, pulling truck, what ever I need to do truck, its a dually, 6.7 diesel 4x4 The ball joints are needing replaceing very soon, What brand do you recommend? This is not a play in the mud or anything like that truck, its a stock truck. I do not abuse it. Want to keep it stock. Thanks

I would consider nothing less than Moog, they are probably the best of the big name brands, found in most auto parts stores. Carli, Dynatrac and EMF are smaller companies but make higher end, HD ball joints for these trucks. Just google search those names, if you are interested.

Go Original Equipment, they are about the same price as the old quality MOOG. Unfortunately, MOOG cannot be trusted anymore. MOOG is just a name owned by a conglomerate now. There are some quality MOOG still in the parts chain, but it's a crapshoot.

I used Moog in my Ram, but whatever you use make sure they have grease fittings. If the original ones had fittings they might still be good.

Rockauto has various listings from economy to extra heavy duty.

Not sure how truthful the ratings are, but something to go on.

Off road enthusiast rant and rave about kryptonite ball joints. I am a Moog man I do read from professionals they have went down hill
they recommend OEM these days.

Other than quality we want something that fits you do not have to remake it to fit. How brands like Detroit Axle are allowed to pedal their junk is beyond me.

I've run Mopar and several grades of rock auto in ours, I don't consider the mopar worth the dealer premium. The upper doesn't really matter, its just a kingpin hiding in ball joint but the lowers from looking at the guts I buy the close to most expensive ones they sell now. Under the weight of a diesel they really don't last long even when greased and they are a tremendous pain in the arse to change regularly so every bit helps.

Never had a problem after putting the grease type in but the grease has to be in the part not the tube in the shop
